Storage shed build

Hi Folks, I have been keeping myself busy building my storage shed so, I can clear my shop out and use it for what it's meant for.

Took some pictures behind my cabin.

                                This was Sunset tonight, beautiful
Here are some meals this past week, starting with Monday morning. Blueberry pancakes.

                                                          Chili
New York Strip with fried potatoes
Tonight was New England Clam Chowder.
Well, that's pretty much for now, I will keep you updated on the finished shed and whatever else is going on. Take care.....Wear your mask

Hey John
Did you get your oil stove hooked up yet? What kind is it? We had a big 2 story 4 bedroom house in Homer, we heated it with a big Toyo stove... Although we had a wood stove and a fife place for backup...
Boy did our thermometer take a nose dive... for a week we had 32 and 33 for night time lows... Then it dropped to 18 the last couple nights. you probably had even lower temps, you usually do..
Those Blue Berry pancakes sure look good..

keep warm

Hi John, I haven't hooked it up yet because, Newman's hasn't brought my fill for the back area yet. I am using my woodstove at the moment. Yes, the other morning I was down to 12 degrees and I didn't have any heat going yet but, I sure got a fire going in a hurry, lol. My te were in the low 30's and had a couple of 28s. Stay warm. By the way, on Thursday, I turned 73, catching up with ya, lol.

Those blueberry pancakes and fried potatoes look delish! How are preparations to move out to your remote cabin coming along?

Bushrat John said...

Hi 518nymamma, they both tasted good as well, lol. I'm pretty well ready but it won't be for a couple of months. It will depend when all the waterways are frozen and there is enough snow. Are you ready for one of those N.Y. Winters?

Hi MidwestGal, thanks. Yes, those are the blueberries from Hatcher's Pass and taste good. I do feel blessed that I can still be active at my age. I always work at staying safe. Take care

One of the things I miss most about Alaska is the fauna. Your pictures.

As a new reader I have been going back to the beginning of your blog and bringing myself forward. I like being alone, too, but I complain sometimes about the condition of my steep driveway, the creep who has the property next to mine and likes to harrass me, the overwhelming amount of work. And then my cousin told me about his niece who lives in an old neighborhood in Eugene, close to downtown where the nightly riots are going on. She has endured on average 20 car break-ins a month and has even seen the door knob to her front door turn in the evening. Boy, my troubles seemed few after listening to that.

Hi Earth Girl, there are a lot of beautiful Fauna that I enjoy looking at.I hope you are enjoying some of my back posts. It's a shame what's going on in Oregon and other areas. Sorry to hear your neighbor is a creep, I have one of those as well. Thanks for stopping by and take care.

Hey John
Happy Birthday. I've found that after 80 one tends to slow down a little.
after looking at your blue berry pancakes, I went diving into my big freezer. I know buried way down deep there is a gallon zip lock bag of blue berries.. and I'm gonna have some blue berry pancakes.
Did the VA call you about first come first served flu shots... They open at 07:30. They have tables set up in the hall way.
two nurses.. They got a real slick operation going.. a walk thru flu shot clinic.. I got my shot last Friday. I go back in tomorrow for my annual donation of body fluids.. Then next week go back in to hear what the Dr has to say .

Stay Warm

Hi John, funny how something as simple as blueberries can influence our lives. Waking up on a Sunday morning and making blueberry pancakes and bacon 🥓 or sausage makes life great. I already got my flu shot, can't be to carefully. Thanks for stopping by.

Well, I have got myself caught up on your posts. So many things I want to comment on and then by the time I get here my mind goes blank. Very impressed with the progression of your cabin over the years and all your awesome finds. Most of your meals look yummy. Especially moose stew, things I can't get here. Love the pictures.

The Salvation Army in Anchorage, cant remember the address but was close in, near the library and Freddie's. I could look it up. Anyway, they had great finds and tons of good books. I loved that place.

Have you read any of the Woodswomen books by Anne LaBastille about her life in the Adirondacks? She died but I read all of her books. People said after the fact that she doctored up her rustic life style and she probably did. Oh well.

One of the things I wanted to comment about was having to go to the library to use the internet. I have had to do that here ( 100 miles round trip) and also used the library in Anchorage when I was there. I have internet in the woods now but it is the slowest there is. That is all that is offered here. I know all about the annoying people but I learned something. They have study rooms and so I call ahead and reserve one and then I get two hours of peace. Maybe they have those where you are.

I am glad you have survived your bouts with depression. I think men have a worse time than women. All the men in my family has battled it. Even my sister. I am the only one who hasn't. My mother didn't either. It is hard to see someone go thru that and scary becasue you don't know how they are going to handle it.

Hi earth girl. I'm glad you enjoyed my past posts. I have Internet through my phone using Hot spot with Verizon so, I don't have to go to the library anymore. I don't travel to Anchorage very much anymore, I hate it there. The MatSu Valley where I live has everything I need. So glad you got to enjoy my past life. Hopefully it will get better. Take care
