Once more, bad luck has struck

This morning, I received a call from Randy informing me that he had an accident with his plane. He said he was on his way out to his cabin and as he made his approach to land, something happened to veer him off course and he hit the top of a tree and then to the ground. He wasn't severely hurt except for some bumps and bruises, he is complaining of pain in his shoulder. He is home and feeling really down. He has been flying for about 40 years without an accident.

The funny thing is, he felt bad because it will be awhile before he can take me out to the cabin. He said he will try to find someone, I told him not to worry about it and he should take time and work on himself. Flying is his bread and butter. He needs to find someone to take over his obligations so he won't have to return money to his clients and he can have some income.

I feel really bad for him and if I was a rich man, I would buy him another airplane. So, I guess I will work around my town cabin and hopefully take some road trips with my camera and fishing pole. That's about it for now and will update you on any changes.

U.S.S. FITZGERALD DDG 62

                          U.S.S. FITZGERALD  DDG 62

As a U.S. Navy Veteran, my thoughts and prayers go out to the Commanding Officer and crew that were hurt and hope for a speedy recovery.  I am especially thinking about those sailors that are missing and hoping they are found soon.

MORE PHOTOS

Before leaving the cabin, I took a walk about on my property to share with you what's going on. My property consist of many old growth trees, some range in diameter of 12-24".

Many of these trees grow Fungus

Here are some flowers growing around the cabin

As you can see, the ferns grow big and plentiful here. I like the ferns but, they have a tendency to take over and I will have to get rid of some around the cabin. The problem with these are, they cover the ground so much, the ground stays damp from the rain and can't dry up. This breeds mosquitoes.

Unfortunately, a Chickadee committed suicide by ramming into my window. R.I.P. little guy.

I got the cabin set up to cook

I forgot that I brought out some freeze dried meals awhile back, I know it doesn't look that appealing but, it didn't taste bad at all. All you do is, add 2 cups boiling water to the pkg. stir and close for 10 min. and dinner.

Don't it look tasty, LOL.

Randy is here to pick me up and loading the plane.
Taking off

The landscape on the trip back, my property.

and last but not least, my buddy, RANDY who makes it possible to take these photos.

I hope you all enjoy these photos. My next trip out will be around July 1st and I will be the the whole month and will blog from there. Take care and enjoy.

Back at the cabin

Hi everyone, a few of you were wondering where I was. Sorry for not answering your comments.  As far as my health issues, the specialists seems to think I am fine so, I am going along with that and not worry about anything and go on being me.

Yep, I'm back at the cabin and have been here since Monday 6/5. When I arrived, it was raining but not to bad.  When we landed at the beach, to our surprise it very wet from the snow and the rains.  It turned into Muskeg which is like walking on sponges submerged in water. I had to walk about 100 feet to get to dry land.  As I was hauling stuff in the sled, I fell a few times and got soaking wet.  Randy unloaded and took off, he didn't want any part of it, LOL.  When I got everything to the cabin, I started a small fire to dry everything. I pretty much sat inside and drank coffee. Despite all that, I didn't let it bother me.

Woke up about 3:40 am and this is what I saw.

Waking up to such beauty, you don't want to go back to sleep, I was so tired, I did. Tuesday morning, I woke up about 8 am (yes, I did sleep in). I made coffee and breakfast.

Powdered Scrambled eggs

Eggs and sausage, a good hearty breakfast

I spent Tuesday and Wednesday cutting small trees that blocked the view some.

It was a job cutting them all by hand but, rewarding.

After the tree cutting on Tuesday, I was sitting in the cabin having coffee and I noticed a brown spot across the lake.

That was a very nice surprise. Wednesday as I was having coffee, surprise again, not sure if it was the same moose or a different one but, I'm thinking the same going back.

Here it's looking up as a plane was flying overhead.

On Wednesday, I was treated to another surprise, I walked down towards the lake and there was a swan.

Tuesday and Wednesday, Mount Denali was out in all her glory and I feel so honored to have my cabin here to view it.

Today I walked around the property a bit and found these flowers growing.
                                                          ROSEHIP

Here are a couple of trees with nice Burls growing on them. There are plenty on my property.

Here is a tree that will have to be cut down soon. I will do it late Fall or this a Winter.

I brought my generator from my town cabin and when I get back, I will buy a new one.

I was pleased to see Starlings, it is fun to watch them flying and dive bombing after mosquitoes. They are hard to film. One did land on a dead tree.

Resting with a cup of coffee

Well my friends, I hope you enjoy this post, I will go to town tomorrow to take care of some things. There will be more times like this one soon. Stay tuned. Thanks.
