Joe owned Painter Creek Lodge on the Alaska Peninsula where I was his winter caretaker. He passed away from an airplane crash. This was the last time I saw him.
I remember Joe. I spent October through March, 1988-89 as the caretaker at the lodge. Joe came and got me in April and we flew back to Anchorage where I spent the night at his house before my brother came down from Talkeetna to pick me up. Joe was a good man.
I went flying with Joe into the cabin he had. He was my Uncle and after I departed Elmendorf AFB to a new post I lost track of Him and Aunt Connie. We used to spend time in Anchorage with them for Christmas. I was saddened to know he passed away. Not sure what happened to his 2 daughters. Ok well, thanks for sharing this news. Terry Scott

Hi Michael, Joe was a very good man, had he not died, I would probably still be there. I really liked it there. Small world, eh?
