Lots of snow

Hi everyone, we are getting lots of snow right now, it's coming down heavy as I type. It is beautiful, nice big flakes. My birds must have invited their relatives to visit because, I filled the feeders yesterday and it usually takes 3-4 days for them to empty them. Right now at 12:45 pm they are empty. I think I will wait a day or two until their relatives leave, LOL.

Heavy snow is pushing the trees down

There's 2 sawhorses there and my snowmachine trailer behind them

It's been so cold here, I have used pretty much half of my firewood
                                        Making an appearance
This is a $600 jacket sold by Alaskan Outfitters, that a friend gave me because, he moved out of Alaska to a much warmer climate. I have the pants that go with it and they cost about $400. Nice gift.
                                 Looking from inside my outhouse
Looking towards the back from front of my cabin
My old faithful Ford F150, I love my truck
Gotta get my outhouse in the pictures, LOL
As you can see, lots of firewood gone. I will replace it though
Splitting firewood for the night. I usually wait until around 11 pm to go out and split it, it so peaceful and the stars are out.

WATCH OUT, crazy man with an axe, lol
When I bring the wood in, I stack it under and behind the stove to help dry it out.
This is why I love splitting firewood at night
I will have to learn how to use my camera better or, just use my phone to take pictures. My phone takes great photos.

This is my new weather station,  my old one was to hard to see as it did not light up.
The two top numbers are, left for inside temp. and right for outside.

What an amazing post. Lots of great pictures. $1000 outfit? Wow! I would be afraid to get it dirty. Are you getting more snow than normal? Heard any branches breaking lately? Do you have to remove snow from your structures? You saw that Aurora? Could you see it moving? Have you seen any other colors. Thanks for the wonderful update. I miss Alaska so much. I hope to get back there soon. Thanks

Oh my gosh, the Aurora is beautiful! So much snow...hope you don't have an avalanche while you are in the outhouse! LOL. Those birds must have been stocking up like we do when a storm comes!

Hi Passport, it's 5 pm and still snowing. That was my first attempt to photograph the lights, I will try with my phone the next time. No branches breaking yet just bent over. Of course I can see it moving it never stands still. I did see some other colors but, my camera didn't pick them up. I hope you can make it back to Alaska.

Being in the outhouse during an avalanche would not be a good thing, lol. I bet there were close to 20 birds but they move so fast, it's hard to get a photo of all of them. They better send their family members packing, LOL.

Hey, caught your post on the first day... LOL. Those happy birds are stocking up for a bad weather to come. They are taking advantage of that food that is available for them. Apparently the cold and snow are not done yet. (never really is, cause we live in Alaska) but Im thinking the birds are taking advantage to stock and store a bit for what is to come. Ya, that wet snow doesn't look good, will need to get out to plow my lot. Like the changes to the Living room, betting you are pretty happy about having that wood stove again. We have had bad wind chills but not the below 0 temps.

Hi Wash, I don't mind my birds but, when all their relatives show up, they clean the feeders in a couple of hours. I'll wait day or two and try it again. I am happy with the living room changes and yes, I'm glad to have the wood stove again. My temps. have been well below 0 for a long time, day and night.

Hiya John love the pictures of snow, just beautiful. And seeing the Aurora is breathtaking, I would love to see it. Wow can’t believe how cold it is, I can only imagine the quick trips to outhouse in this weather lol . Looking right spiffy in your red jacket & it sure looks warm. The birds must have heard about your bird hotel and that you have free grub lol.... I’m sure sitting inside with hot cup coffee and looking out at the snow is a relaxing awesome site. Love all the pictures, keep them coming. Take care ... Bert From Bama

Hi Bert, I am so used to the outhouse, I don't close the door, especially at night. This is the kind of snow I like, it's like powder just a smidgen of wetness. I was studying the pictures of the coat and it's almost as long as me, lol. I call them my welfare birds, when they find out there's free food there, they come. Take care.

Hey John
Like the Red parka ... It's perfect for the wx we've had so far this winter. The VA called me Monday and moved my Friday shot up to Tuesday. Think the hardest part is taking off my parka, taking off my shirts, get the shot, then have to put it all back on again... Did you get your 2nd shot yet? I have same problem with my bird feeder. the 2 doz chickadees and another dozen or so Redbols, with a few Gross Beaks and one wood pecker usually take a week or so to clean it out.. Then all of a sudden, I look out and there is a huge flock of all varieties and they empty the bird feeder in a couple hours. One sunny day we got hit by a good sized flock of Bohemian Wax Wings.. they take all the rose hips off the old rose bush, and all the high bush cranberries and then they are gone.
stay warm

Hiya John, good to hear from you. Hope all is well with you. When I go to the VA for the shot I just wear a Tshirt under my coat. I get my second shot on the 16th. I like my birds but, when those damn relatives show up they think they are at a food bank, lol. Oh well, somebody has to feed them I guess. They have been good company. You take care John, stay safe.

John the snow sure adds beauty to the pictures. You are absolutely right about your motivation to chop wood at night. I sure hope that someday I will get to see the northern lights in person. They are sure a welcome sight in photos. I imagine they are probably even more colorful in person. Thanks much for posting your pictures. Allows some of us to live vicariously through your blog.

Have a Great Day!

Hi Jim, thanks. I'm one of those who complain about snow but, I really like it. There is nothing better than going out late at night and split wood and then, sit out for awhile and watch the stars and/or the Northern Lights. Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Mary, I just might have to get more wood. The cold here just won't let up. Oh well, it's part of living in Alaska.

Hiya John you can call your cold temps and freezing weather back home lol . Here in Alabama we have freezing rain, sleet n power outages going on. Cold I can handle just had power outages. And to top it off my generator isn’t working had to order parts but won’t arrive in time & my gas logs won’t work needs new valve which is unavailable,as are gas logs. Ugh talk about stress. but I got complacent with being quarantined and let it slide. This won’t ever happen again you can bet. Still have power as of now and pray it stays that way. Take care ... Hi Bert, damn, talk about things happen, sounds as though everything is happening to you. That sounds like some really crappy weather. I really hope it all goes away soon and you can get back on track. Don't send it here though, lol. Take care

Hiya John well not only did I get freezing rain but snow & 16 degree temps & 21 tonight. Thankfully didn’t loose power. It will be a sheet of ice on roads tomorrow. Wow Texas is getting hit hard wonder how Cotton Lady is making it? Wrapping up my day here and it’s going to be a Netflix night. Hope all is well... Take care ... Bert From Bama

Hi Bert, everything is good here, it's midnight here and I just came in from splitting firewood. It started snowing 🌨 last night and ended this afternoon. Temperatures is 21f right now. Tomorrow I will clear snow. It's supposed to get 🥶 again. The good thing is, the days are getting longer. Take care.

Thanks, John. I really enjoyed your post. I think this is one of your best ones. You really capture everything so well through your lens. The Northern Lights are stunning. That is a nice coat! Won't be long now and you will have the second vaccine. That will be a good feeling I bet!
Take care,

After being in relationship with Wilson for seven years,he broke up with me, I did everything possible to bring him back but all was in vain, I wanted him back so much because of the love I have for him, I begged him with everything, I made promises but he refused. I explained my problem to someone online and she suggested that I should contact a spell caster that could help me cast a spell to bring him back but I am the type that don’t believed in spell, I had no choice than to try it, I meant a spell caster called Dr Zuma zuk and I email him, and he told me there was no problem that everything will be okay before three days, that my ex will return to me before three days, he cast the spell and surprisingly in the second day, it was around 4pm. My ex called me, I was so surprised, I answered the call and all he said was that he was so sorry for everything that happened, that he wanted me to return to him, that he loves me so much. I was so happy and went to him, that was how we started living together happily again. Since then, I have made promise that anybody I know that have a relationship problem, I would be of help to such person by referring him or her to the only real and powerful spell caster who helped me with my own problem and who is different from all the fake ones out there.
