Deep in thought

Hi everyone, it's 8:55 pm and I am sitting here having a cup of coffee, the curtains closed because, the sun is bright and shining in my windows. I have my new air conditioner going that I bought at Walmart. It works great.
I will show a picture in my next post.

I am thinking about Winter already and how much I miss it. The fire at night, the stars out shining bright or a snowfall coming down slowly. Yes, I really do miss it. I miss going out at night and splitting wood and bringing it in on the sled, I miss the nights having the oil lamps glowing. Making a trip to the outhouse in the middle of the night.

I actually even miss shoveling the snow. I miss the real cooking I used to do and I miss doing my posts regularly. I noticed a big drop in people reading my posts, mainly because, I kinda got lazy and was in a deep depression because, of a lot of things going on in my personal life.

I am in the process of changing all that and am getting ready to change back to my old self. My BushratJohn self. I was not conceived to live like a "normal?" person. I am supposed to be different from everyone. So, you will see big changes coming in the very near future.

I often wonder if there are other people who don't like Summer like me. I have to admit, I'm getting a bit emotional writing this, LOL. I still haven't found my BushratWoman yet, LOL. I've decided, if it happens, it happens or if it don't, it don't.

Starting tomorrow, things are changing and I will keep you up to date for sure. Well, that's all I can think of at the moment.......Take care

I'm still reading so keep posting! I don't miss winter...it seems like this winter went on way too long! But I do enjoy winter. I like the snow and cuddling up under a warm blanket with a cup of coffee and a good book. I enjoy the crisp, cold air. Can't say I would enjoy an outhouse trip in the winter though!

When does the sun set this of year?

Good morning, John! Good to hear from you. Summer is my least favorite season of the year, it just gets too hot!! To be 100 or over today. I love Spring and Fall.

I’m still here, reading your posts, so keep them coming! Take care
Blessings!

Hi nymammaof2, I assume you live in the Upstate area and I know how your Winters are. Sometimes colder than here. It pretty much stays light 24 hrs. But, the sun sets around 10 or 11 pm.

Hi cotton, good to hear from you. The Summers here are getting higher every year. I may have to go farther North, lol.

Hi John! Been wondering how you are. Summers are my least favorite seasons, even as a kid growing up in Michigan. Fall & winter are still my favorites. So, you are not the only one who would be content to skip summer ;)

Still plan on doing some traveling this summer? When you get lonesome for winter, get out the chainsaw. Nothing compares to cords of wood, just waiting for the best time of year to come around again.

Take care, John. Keep looking up.

Regards, Susan

Hi John - I check your sight everyday! And enjoy your posts very much. If you catch those fish you talked about send us a photo (only the legal ones) LOL. I too love the winter evening when life slows to a pleasant tempo. See you tomorrow....

Hi Susan, yes, I still plan on getting out, just got one thing to get out of the way. I knew there are people who enjoy Winters like myself. Stay tuned, things will start happening.

Hi Carol, thanks for checking in. I will be fishing soon. Oh yes, legal fish only, lol.

Dont get too down on people not reading, it is summer and people are out and busy... We have been working around the house... some time this next week we will probably pull the plug and move out to the cabin for a month to finish up insulating, creating the kitchen, and the loft... get the decks built... fix the mess the squirrel left... you know the fun stuff... LOL We bought some ceiling tiles that we are going to use instead of dry wall. Im trying to make this go faster rather than slower. I have a place to pick up rough cut lumber that I will be putting on the walls so as to not need to do dry wall again. LOL Im going to build the kitchen cabinets so they fit like I want. Otherwise it is all good, then home to rest and re-coop so I can go look for a job.

I prefer fall, winter, and spring. Summers are too hot here in Texas. We seldom get snow here, maybe some sleet. Sitting next to a fireplace, or propane heater on a cold day is an enjoyable thing for me.
Looking forward to riding along on your new adventures in life. We will be checking your blog daily.

Hi Wash, those pesky squirrels can cause a lot of problems. Sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you.

Hey bigfoot, I agree, you guys do get hot weather. Even Alaska is getting way to hot, I may have to move farther North, lol.

I've been looking at land in Timberon, NM. High elevation, cool summers, snowy winters. Reasonably priced lots, but I understand NM has some expensive rqmts on septic systems.
Plus, I'm too old to build another remote cabin. And too tall & fat to live comfortably in a travel trailer.
Glad you are back to posting.!!

LOL, it's always good to hear from you, you come up with some funny messages. I had thought about New Mexico once but, as always, Alaska wins out.

Hey John
good to see your posting again. Did you go down to the Russian River and catch any of those Reds? Gave a younger friend my Proxy and he went right down and hooked 7 for me.. Woke up to a cooler full of salmon, so spent my morning filleting fresh fish. I'm having trouble keeping up with the yard work so hired my 12yr old grandson to do a lot of it now.
I'd volunteer to come up and help you nail that addition together, but I'd probably be more in the way than any help.

Tight lines

Old John

Hi John, thanks for the offer but, you're retired and are required to enjoy life, lol. I rarely go down on the Kenai. I hardly do anything fun but, that is changing soon. I never thought about doing the proxy thing. That's a good idea and I will stick to lake fishing. It's hard finding a young kid around here to do any work. Anchors Away, mate!

Hi John.....I, too, read your blog each day and look forward to more frequent "news" of your daily doings. It is hard to remember you are in Alaska when you show pictures of all of the greenscapes. When I think of Alaska, it is the snow and cold that comes to my mind.....which I much prefer. My location is in a northeastern coastal community and as a result we have our share of warm/hot weather which brings along with it many tourists and visitors. Come to think of it maybe that is why I prefer the winter as it brings much less congestion and folks! The closeness to nature seems to be much better achieved in the winter here......Nothing like some outside work on a cold day accompanied by your dog(s) and then return inside to a glowing fire and something simmering in the pot. Oh well, we have numerous months ahead of us before that can happen so in the meantime, we purge ahead.....Thanks for the view of the window of Alaska.....looking forward to the changes in your abode ahead! Chris

Hi Chis, nice to hear from you. Being in the N.E. on the coast, you certainly know about heat or cold. You can have much colder weather in the Winter and the Summers are very hot. I think it can be very humid as well? There are only 2 highways in and out of Alaska, in the Summer, they are clogged with motorhomes.
