Well, as many of you know, I am all about changes and do them all the time. A few of you liked the red color that I painted the cabin but, I really didn't after awhile. It just didn't look right after a while so, I changed it again. I think you will like this new color, it fits in with the property.
THE OLD
THE NEW
What you see at the bottom, will be my new deck on the cabin. After seeing how nice the cabin looks with the new color, inspired me to do more work. Yesterday in the hot sun, I decided to move the outhouse. Because I couldn't get the help that I needed, I had to dismantle the outhouse and reassemble it. This picture shows where it was.
Here is where it is now, you can see in the lower right corner where it sat.
The pole barn is to the left.
I like it at it's new position. I will paint it and lay a gravel walkway to it. I tell you, it was so hot and buggy, I was just miserable doing this job. The mosquitoes were terrible, sweat pouring off and into my eyes but, I finished it. I can tell you, I drank about 6 gallons of water.
Obviously, I took the best shower ever, I felt very refreshed but, tired and hungry. So, I made dinner and relaxed afterward. Rice topped with onions, sweet peppers and mushrooms topped with grilled hot Italian sausages. {I like my meat burned}. The drink? Crystal Light Orange with a splash of Vodka. {maybe 2 splashes}. LOL
I really like the way my property is greening up and some flowers are blooming.
I will leave the yard with the wild look.
Here are a few more cloud pictures. I am thinking about installing a larger picture window.
These remind me of the Angel hair we use to put on the Christmas tree as a kid.
These were taken Friday night.
Well that pretty much does it for now, I should have some more changes in a few days. It rained last and I have a feeling it will rain for a few more days. Take care and have a nice weekend.

I really like the new color. The red almost matches my new truck. LOL. Sorry, if I had of known you needed help and was off would have been glad to offer a hand along with my strong young man. I need a road trip. Tranny went out on the other one as I was driving in to get the thermostat fixed. Tranny replacements are quite expensive. LOL. Beautiful pictures as always...
Wash
Thanks Wash, I like the new color a lot. I apreciate the offer for help. Sorry to hear about your mechanical problems, hope it turns positive for ya.
HI John...You should have been a gourmet cook, your meal photo's always look so nice like right out of a magazine : )!!
I do like the color of the cabin , blends real good with the woody setting !
I guess taking apart and resembling the back house was one way of doing it without any help, but not perfect! : ) !!
Your sky shot's a gorgeous!!
Take care in the heat
Grace
Hi grammie, I have always thought, the appearance of the meal adds to the taste of the meal. One thing you learn when living remote, you are the only one you can depend on to "git r done", lol. Thanks for the nice remarks. Take care
Yup,the new color is much better, I think. Good that you got the outhouse moved and I totally understand the mosquitoes as they are bad here since we have had so much rain this summer though I am sure they are not as bad as where you are. Will be watching to see the work you get done on the cabin. Looks like it is going to be real nice.
Turning into quite the palace brother!
Keep up the good work.
Hi Becky, the place is coming along fine. It's starting to take shape. The mosquitoes are becoming less and less. Glad you like the color.
Thanks Evano, the more work, the more value.
Hey John
Like the new Color better than the Red. More Mellow IMHO. The Screen door looks very professional. Companies all gone (finally), got a lot of yard work to catch up on now. I'll try to call you later.
Old John
Thanks John, I'm glad to be getting things done. Looking forward to your call.
The upcoming August rains should bring mushrooms to your woods! Do you gather wild mushrooms? Some you need to know bad from good, but there are others (Boletus, etc.) that are one of a kind and always good if you get them fresh... Thanks for your posts, and sorry so long since my last comment! Best wishes from the Kenai...
Hi CinAnc, really nice to hear from you again. Yes, I do gather mushrooms and I usually can find quite a few. Hope you stick around.
Hiya John been a while sinse I posted and seems like you have accomplished quite a lot.I do like the new color and I agree it is much better. The pictures are so beautiful and they give a real meaning to Gdds country...the views are breath taking.Well the sausage and peppers looked very tasty ..that's my favorite dish but with potatos and bell pepper also.Soothing drink with your meal it looks like lol...but relaxing after a hard days work.Nothing new here but still lots of rain so our july and aug so far haven't been scorching temps.Well take care John talk to ya later...bert from bama
Hi Bert, thanks for the. Nice comments, I am finally getting this place fixed up. I do enjoy my meals and tasty drinks.
Hi John,
You have an interesting blog, I enjoy viewing your use of space and views on cooking, not to mention some spectacular outdoor photographs you’ve taken. When you began this build did you even toss around the idea of converting a shipping container into a cabin? I understand there’s a glut of the things here due to all our importing from China.
I recently moved into a well-used 1994 33’ motorhome. This fall I’ll be escaping Texas for Tucson AZ to spend Christmas with my brother and after that I’ll be taking yearlong 5,000 mile loops through this beautiful land of ours. I even plan to visit Alaska, but not in the motorhome, I’ll leave it in Montana and drive up on the Alaskan Highway and back down through BC.
Anyhow, it was good to read your blog and know that you’re still doing well and pursuing your dream.
Steve
Hi Steve, thanks for your kind comments and WELCOME. I never cared much for the use of the containers. I'm a bit old Alaskan, I like your plans, traveling the open road carefree. When you get to Alaska let me know, I would like to hear about your adventure. Take care
I like the new color too. Eventually we want to get everything painted and we've talked about color. I think we want to try to match one of the colors in the trees. The latest idea is the pale yellow/tan of the birch under the white paper. We'll see I think that is a ways off lol.
Hi Sarah, thanks and nice to hear from ya. That sounds like an interesting color. Hope to see it when it's done.
