I'm getting a headache
Today, I just about drove myself crazy. I have been trying to find stuff that I need for my new cabin and it is nuts trying to find things and prices from long distance. First of all, I have to go online to find phone numbers, I make calls and when I tell them what I am looking for, they transfer me to the person I need to speak to. The phone rings 3-8 times and then, I get cut off. So, I call back and get transferred again, this time wrong dept. They transfer me again and when I get the area I need, the person says, I will have to get someone who knows about this stuff. "YIKES." I called Costco to get a price on a small chest freezer and they tell me, they can't give prices over the phone. I tell them, I am in the BUSH 200 miles from them....."Sorry, policy". That's OK Fred Meyers gave me everything I needed. Don't even get me started on Craigslist, these people put ads on and when you call them, it already sold and they don't take their ad down or you leave a message and get no answer in return. Not to mention, some of them are selling used stuff for nearly the price of new. I tell ya, I can't wait to get to the road system to get things myself. I have a good friend who has been helping me out but, I feel bad having him run everywhere. I can't wait to get the new cabin up and settle back to piece and quiet. My biggest goal now is to find someone with a Supercub on floats to make a few trips this summer to my place. I have called Air Taxis and they want an arm and a leg to fly 10-15 min. to my place. I think I need to brew a nice cup of tea and wipe it all from my mind.

Village trip
The day started out really nice. This morning it was-14 and clear. Today is mail day in the village so, decided to take a ride in and get mail. Took the Honda today, it has been sitting for a long time and was really hard to start because of all the really cold mornings. Anyway, got it started and headed in. Wasn't worth the trip, all I got was the BUSH MAILER. Here is the Post Office. Even though it is a sunny day, it is still pretty cold with the breeze in the air. I wore the wrong head gear and it was cold on the lake. As you can see, the lake is pretty well traveled. I'm hoping it will warm up a bit more. Time to cut fire wood and split it Cold or not.
As you can see, big city life has found its way to remote Alaska, Handicap Sign. That's the Post Mistriss's Honda
Thought I would mug for some photos on the way back.
Just a couple of ramdom photos

What a great day
Today was such a nice day, I don't how anyone could be inside. Woke up to a nice sunrise and -5 degrees. Last night the Northern Lights were out. I need to get a better camera to take pictures of them. Anyway, it was a good day to haul water, burns garbage and I had to shovel my woodpile out. My tarp got frozen in. If these nice days keep coming, I will be able to pull the tarp off the woodpile. Anyway, I took a few pics of me actually working.

Hi Everyone
It's been awhile since I have posted something other than poems and pictures, which I hope you are enjoying. The days are getting longer and warmer out here where I am at. I have been pretty quiet for awhile because I have been having cabin fever and just haven't been inspired to much. But, things are starting to look a little brighter. Today it was sunny and got to 46 degrees. I was so happy to have this weather I spent the whole day outside doing things in my tshirt. It felt great. I have also been bummed out because, there are some people who use to come and visit and they have not most of this winter. Not sure why or what is going on. Anyway, it kind of bothered me but, I am getting over that. Now, I am looking more towards this summer and building my new cabin. I am going to work at letting everyone know what's going on every couple of days so you don't get bored with my blog. I need to keep this interesting because, I have been receiving a lot of emails from people saying how much they are enjoying it and asking for a lot of information. If I don't get back to those who email, right away, I will eventually. I am getting many who are anonymous, it sure would be nice if some of you would sign up but, if not that's OK. I have gotten a couple of childish comments but, will erase them as soon as I can. So, check in and see what's new. Thanks again to those who are enjoying my blog.

JUST for LAUGHS
One of my by gone recollections,
As I recall the days of yore
Is the little house, behind the house,
With the crescent over the door.
'Twas a place to sit and ponder
With your head bowed down low;
Knowing that you wouldn't be there,
If you didn't have to go.
Ours was a three-holer,
With a size for every one.
You left there feeling better,
After your usual job was done.
You had to make these frequent trips
Whether snow, rain, sleet, or fog--
To the little house where you usually
Found the Sears-Roebuck catalog.
Oft' times in dead of winter,
The seat was covered with snow.
'Twas then with much reluctance,
To the little house you'd go.
With a swish you'd clear the seat,
Bend low, with dreadful fear
You'd blink your eyes and grit your teeth
As you settled on your rear.
I recall the day Granddad,
Who stayed with us one summer,
Made a trip to the shanty
Which proved to be a hummer.
'Twas the same day my Dad
Finished painting the kitchen green.
He'd just cleaned up the mess he'd made
With rags and gasoline.
He tossed the rags in the shanty hole
And went on his usual way
Not knowing that by doing so
He would eventually rue the day.
Now Granddad had an urgent call,
I never will forget!
This trip he made to the little house
Lingers in my memory yet.
He sat down on the shanty seat,
With both feet on the floor.
Then filled his pipe with tobacco
And struck a match on the outhouse door.
After the Tobacco began to glow,
He slowly raised his rear:
Tossed the flaming match in the open hole,
With not a sign of fear.
The Blast that followed, I am sure
Was heard for miles around;
And there was poor ol' Granddad
Just sitting on the ground.
The smoldering pipe was still in his mouth,
His suspenders he held tight;
The celebrated three-holer
Was blown clear out of sight.
When we asked him what had happened,
His answer I'll never forget.
He thought it must be something
That he had recently et!
Next day we had a new one
Which my Dad built with ease.
With a sign on the entrance door
Which read: 'No Smoking, Please!'
