My mind is made up

Hi everyone, for the past week, I have been doing a lot of thinking and decided that this Winter, I will be spending it at my remote cabin. I'm not sure if I had told you all that I am seeing two therapists, one is once a week and the other once a month. I am seeing them because, there is something wrong with me mentally and I have not been figuring out what it is. The one I see once a week is really good at helping me and because we see each other face to face, I get more out of it.

Well, this past two weeks, I have been watching videos on YouTube titled Life Below Zero, these videos are about living in the Alaska Bush like I did years ago and it hit me, that is what I am missing in my life, my {old life}. Ever since I started watching the series, I noticed a spark in my life like I haven't had since I left the Alaska Bush lifestyle. Starting this week, I will be shopping for dry goods and other things that I will need for the Winter out there.

Sometime this week I will go 10 miles down the highway to Deshka Landing where everyone starts from to go out to their remote cabins year round. I will pay $650 for the annual pass and I will get my own area to store supplies and my snowmachines in the Summer or a boat in the Winter. I will also get unlimited entry. Once that is done, I can start storing materials to go out this Winter. I have 2-3 more dock walkways to build and I will take them out this Winter and set them up for next Summer.

I am really happy about this and can't wait to tell my weekly therapist tomorrow. He will be thrilled with my decision. I hope all of you will be happy because, I will have plenty to blog about. My feeling is, since being on the road system, everything was available to me and I became lazy and because of that, I felt depressed. Being out at the remote cabin, I can't afford to be lazy. There will be a lot to do or I will be in trouble.

In case you are interested, the mornings are 32-40 now. Today I made some chili for lunch and it sure tasted good.

Tonight was steak and Cole slaw
Fall has started, I am thinking we will have an early Winter and a cold one

I hope you are all glad that things are getting better for me and I am returning to my old self. Thanks for sticking around.   Take care

Good post, glad to here things are going well. Look forward to reading about your winter adventures. Don’t worry about what other people think, some of us, myself included march to the beat of a different drum, that’s what makes us individuals. Stay safe, have fun and thanks for pics and posts.

Evening ,John. Thought to mention that your chili pic and our current cool fall temps inspired me to make my own first chili of the season. Not sure if mine qualifies as an actual chili to a purist, but it hits the spot. Ground meat, crushed tomatoes, black beans, mushrooms, onions, carrots, garlic..spices. Good fall/winter food. Take care, M.

Hiya John happy to hear you’ve got your life headed in a direction your heart seems to always been, to your remote cabin. Wish you had someone to share the lifestyle you love . Sorry haven’t posted in awhile, seems like this pandemic has slowed life down. I’ll keep in touch more often , miss hearing what’s going on in your life. Stay positive and keep focused on your hearts desire. Take care my friend Bert From Bama

Hi Bert, glad to see you back, thank you for the kind words. I do feel like things are going right. It seems at this time in life, finding someone around my age to live this lifestyle is pretty much not happening. But, life goes on. Take care of yourself.

John....
It struck me that so many folks refer to a "remote lifestyle" when in fact it is closer to what Mother Nature has in mind. When your heart, mind, and Mother Nature are in agreement how can it not work out? It is so nice to see that you are actively working towards a goal that seems so simple but that is not realized by so many. Please continue to blog and keep us "on board" with your journey (both internal and external) since it could be encouragement for others too. Thanks! Chris

Hi Chris, very well said. Since my retirement and moving to the road system, it started out ok but, it came to me that, it just wasn't me. I love Nature and it is where I belong. Quite frankly, I'm kind of glad that many don't care to live among Nature or we would be seeing many subdivisions of modern cabins and condos, lol. You bet I will keep everyone apprised of what's going on.

I am a little behind the times here. Are you able to blog from your remote location? Wherever you are, hope you are holding your own.

Hi, I can when I'm at my remote cabin. Right now, I'm at my town cabin doing some work on it.
