As I was sitting drinking coffee, I noticed a movement, a cow moose
She started grazing on the Willows in my yard. She started grazing across the yard and found a nice spot to rest and eat. If you look over her rump, there is a dark spot in the trees, another cow moose.
As she lay there eating, the morning started getting lighter.
As you can see, it started snowing as she layed there.
I guess she got enough rest and decided to graze again.
The white on the back of the legs as well as a very light brown on the face, tells you, it's a cow. Bulls are pretty much, dark brown all over.
This is the other cow, who came out of the trees to graze.
This is the second one.
The first cow noticed her and decided to go over and claim her territory.
As the second cow moved into the woods, the first one followed her, perhaps to dine with her or not.
I really enjoy the moose, I just can't get enough of them. I could watch them for hours. I hope you enjoy the photos. Take care

Wow! Just look at that moose! What a big animal! We don't have moose here but just over the bridge in New Brunswick there are lots of moose. Thanks for the wonderful photos John. If we had moose here I would be the same way watching them out my window for hours. As for snow, we are still getting some here too. Just small amounts this week.
Yikes! Those moose are really big! I guess I did not have an accurate gauge of their size, but this really puts their "biggness" into perspective! Do they visit year round or just during a select season? Are they amicable or are they territorial towards people? Thanks for giving us these wonderful views of your area - 'Appreciate it!

Those are great pictures John :) I love wildlife. We don't have much moose in this area of the lower Laurentians, but I remember seeing a lot of them when I visited Cape Breton in Nova Scotia. They are big beautiful creatures. I didn't know about the colouring indicating the gender of the moose! You have such a nice place to live. :)

Hi Chris, they are huge. They wander around quite a bit. They tend to hang around the subdivisions and the sides of the road. But, you can also see them in Anchoage in yards and walking down the sidewalks. They are very territorial, especially when it has a calf close by.

Hi John, You asked if the moose ever wandered over to the Island on the bridge? Not that I know of. The bridge from the Island to New Brunswick is 8 miles long and has security cameras, so I would think they would stop them if they seen them. The biggest animal we have here is a coyotes and foxes.

That's a shame they won't share the moose with you. Fox and coyotes can be just as much fun to watch.
How wonderful to spend your morning watching the moose! I am so envious! Every time we travel to Vermont and Maine I hope to see one, but so far, nothing. And your view of Denali from your previous post is just breathtaking!

Thanks Rumbarr, oh yeah, many times. Bears for the most part will do a bluff charge unless they have cubs close by. In that case, you never know. Moose either charge or they don't. It can get very scary.

My drive is clear, back to rock, it is the 6 ft piles that went back 10 feet or so that are still there LOL.
