It's a 40 mile trip home and that gives one time to think about things. Well, I did think. Since I bought this property and built the cabin, I lost the reason I did this. It was suppose to be a place to come to when in town for supplies. I got caught up in the town lifestyle and it has got way out of control. I came to my senses last night as I layed in bed. So, woke up this morning made my coffee and a hearty breakfast. Yep, my favorite
I'm a firm believer, a great early morning breakfast and fantastic coffee with a great view. In the lower right hand corner is a bird bath.
I took an old cake pan and nailed it to a stump
Over time, I have made this town cabin, look like a regular home of sorts and to tell the truth, it has made me feel uncomfortable and still does. After this coming Thursday 7/07, it will change one way or another. And you ask, why? Well, I talked with someone who may be interested in trading his remote cabin on 5 acres on a lake with a 5000 ft. airstrip for both my properties. This airstrip was put there in the 60's for exploration which didn't pan out. Here are some photos. At present, he is putting a new roof on and adding a wrap around deck.
I am really hoping this deal goes forward, if it does, I will be out there setting up a household before you know it. Now, if it doesn't, I will expedite my downsizing and go from there. Hoping you all keep your fingers crossed. Take care.
Happy Independence Day

I like the idea of it having its own airstrip. Can you get to it by ATV /Snow-machine overland, without going over frozen lakes? Otherwise you'll always be dependent on someone else to come and go.
Happy 4th Mike, no, I still have to cross a frozen river but, access with my friend by airplane is affordable. With that airstrip, I could have anything flown in.
That looks very livable.
I like it, hope it works out.
Hi John, Wow, things are changing since I have been away! I understand where you're coming from with neighbors. I had hoped that the new neighbors that moved in a year ago would be better but things are not looking that way lately. I am like you noise just gets to me. If your not happy then things need a change. I have to tell you I would trade my place for that great cabin in the wilderness! My fingers are crossed for you John!
Hey Carol, glad you are back. It is a great cabin, hope it works out.
that is a great cabin! hoping it works out for you, John. what a gorgeous property.
Hiya Deb, I hope so also. I may find out today. We are going to meet today
Hope it works out, as a Mainer there is nothing better than a lake in your door yard.
Thanks Lynn, you got that right
Well, sure wondering if anything worked out...
The guy was supposed to come by this afternoon but, he was still building a hanger. He said, probably tomorrow.
Hoping the trade goes the way you want! I've been curious about living remotely. I get the sense that remotely means, nobody within maybe 50 or a 100 miles from you. How do you make contact with folks. Say for example your friend with the plane. I imagine you can set a date in the future when he would be back. But suppose you want him to bring out a specific item that you need. Will you be able to get the request to him or will it be the case of flying out with him, getting what you need, and then a return flight?
Hi Jim, well, I have people who live 6 miles away but, by land they may as well be 50 miles away. In this modern day of technology, there are areas that cellphones work, also there are phone systems that hooks up to 12v battery and with a special antenna, you can have regular phone service. You bring up an interesting question and I should do a post on communications in remote areas. Thanks for the suggestion
any news yet, John?
Not yet, not sure what's going on. This guy is building an airplane hanger in my subdivision. I've spoken with him twice and he tells me he has a deadline and he will stop by as soon as he can. Oh well. If it doesn't happen, I still have my places. Thanks for asking.
Looks pretty nice. I could see you in that. Nice covered porch too.
Hi Carol, really good to hear from you. Unfortunately, the deal didn't work out but, that's ok, I have other plans. Stay tuned.
