AHHHH! Winter is finally here

What a wonderful sight to wake up to
We received about 14" and I couldn't have been more pleased, even though it meant a lot of shoveling.

The 2 humps to the right of my car is, my snowmachines, I will get them shoveled out soon. Now that Winter is here, I become alive and it's time for soups, stews and casseroles. Mmmmm! good.

I spent today shoveling and cleaned my stovepipe, speaking of which, I am really enjoying my new woodstove. It works great, I am using less wood and getting up way less during the night to feed the stove.

Once again, I made a great buy on a stump grinder, no more cutting stumps by chainsaw. I paid $100 for it delivered and it works, imagine that, lol.
Pretty impressive, eh? I love it when a deal comes together. Here are some pictures with the oil lamps going.

This one is a battery operated light.
Well, that's it for now, I will be posting more now, that Winter is here. Take care.

Hi Terry, it really is nice when that first snow comes.. I really enjoy oil lamps. They give you a comfortable feeling. Take care Terri.

aaaaggghhhhhh would be my reaction... to me snow = backache and twice as much daily work to accomplish the same task... be sure you keep all that awful white stuff up there and don't let it come my way..... LOL

LOL, Hi Mike, ok, I'll try to keep it up here. Funny how the Winter keeps me healthier than Summer. Take care

John......I agree that winter keeps us healthier than the summer - it seems that although "the pace is slower", prepping and hauling the firewood as well as feeding all the animals keeps us going (when the urge to hybernate kicks in). We have not had any snow yet, so I await that with much anticipation! Don't forget to enjoy!
Thanks - Chris

I miss snow John because I am in an area where it rains in winter much more than it snows. Have you made it to your remote property yet? When you're out there do you have any way to get internet or must you go into town or something for that? Do you have any close neighbors at your remote cabin? Curious about your life out there. Terri

Woo Hoo John! Look at that snow! People think I am crazy loving winter more than summer but I don't do well in heat and humidity either. I love the first snow. It is so white, fresh and clean looking. We don't have any here yet. Hope you didn't get too tired shoveling. You got a great deal on that stump remover. Your cabin looks great in the oil lamp lighting. When the power goes out here I run to light the oil lamps. Just love the light they give off. Sometimes I wish it would go out more often just to use the oil lamps more often..lol. Thanks for the update and photos looking forward to more.

Do you ski much? That was the first thing I thought of when I saw the pictures!

Hey Chris, thanks for stopping by. I always find it funny when I talk to young people and they tell me, the snow and cold isn't for them, dropping trees, cutting them up and splitting by had is too much work. Then, there are those who can't go hardly a minute without there electronics, cellphones specifically. I love it all except the electronics and cellphones.

His Terri, rain is good but, not lots of it. Last Sunday, a friend and I were going to fly out but, Sunday morning his lake was frozen over. I can get Internet using a satellite dish, I don't have one yet. I have 1 neighbor who lives across the lake, another one 16 miles away. One day, maybe soon I will post about my life living remote.

His Carol, the first snow is always great and welcomed. What I like best is early morning when it just starts to lighten up and the snow on the trees stand out and I sit with my coffee enjoying the view. Even when I have my generator running, I use oil lamps. I also like to light a candle that smells of Cinnamon or Mulled Apple Cider.

Hey Mary, believe it or not, I don't skip but, at 68 years old, I do snowboard. I enjoy snowboarding.

Actually I love winter too, just hate driving in it.

Take care.

Hi Evano, I hate driving in it also, unless it's a snowmachine or dogsled
