Hi everyone, I am really enjoying this Fall weather after suffering through this hot Summer. This morning was a pleasure to wake up to. Actually had to start a fire to take the chill off.
It's easy to know it is Fall just by looking out the picture window.
I have been hard at work and finally got my Arctic entry done on the cabin. Every piece of material was free.
It's been pouring rain here and we are supposed to get a break today and I will finish off the inside today. I plan to paint the inside the same color as the cabin interior as to make it brighter. I have also made changes inside the cabin.
After all that work, I treated myself to a fine dessert, a mini Apple pie and Caramel Vanilla Swirl ice cream. Oh yeah, it was "yummmmmy".
I'm pretty sure, I am through with any major chan
nges for now. I'm pretty happy the way the cabin has turned out. It's cozy, clean and functional. What I am really proud about is, about 95% of this cabin including the inside was built and furnished for free. This goes to show people, you can own something without spending a lot of money. You just have to use your imagination. I will now spend my time on my remote cabin, which will give me plenty to blog about. I want to thank all of you who have stuck with me and those who have just came aboard. Now, things will get interesting. Again, thanks to all of you.
JOHN

wow, you have been busy! looks wonderful! love the new entry, and the interior cabin looks perfect. I have a bit of pie envy now. LOL
Hi Debbie, glad you approve. The pie and ice cream did taste good.
That's a nice addition & should make the colder weather consume less firewood!
Thanks Art, I certainly hope so. I will be able to store stuff also.
Hi John, your arctic entry looks great John! It should help to keep the cabin warmer, gives you a ton of storage space and the supplies were free. You can't do any better than that! Your cabin inside looks great! Nice to just sit and look around at everything so organized. It still has been warm here with temps around 20C but I am sure it will cool down soon. Now about that pie and ice cream...drooling...lol. I can't wait to see your remote cabin John. I hope you can get to it this winter. Thank you John for sharing some of your Alaskan way of life with us. I do enjoy reading your blog!!
Carol
Hi Carol, always good to hear from my friend across the border. Thanks for the kind words. The remlte cabin is the priority this Winter. That was good pie and ice cream. Always glad to share. Wishing you and your family good wishes.
Hiya John....looks like your hard work has paid off...cabin looks great love the warm cozy look and it looks neat n tidy.Really like the table cloth adds a finished look. You do have a knack for making things out of recycled materials. Your artic entry is something I'm sure you'll come to be happy you did.Sorry so long corresponding...life throws blows at us sometimes we least expect. But I'm ok now and will keep in touch more often.....Fall is here in Alabama also....love it.Take care my friend Bert from Bama
Hi Bert, good to hear from you. Hope things are well with you. Making and building things out of recycled material things is one thing I'm good at. The remote cabin is the next project. Take care of yourself.
Looks better each remodel!
Getting ready for winter here in Ontario, lots to do.
I haven't started on next years firewood yet.
Looking forward to your next post.
Thanks for inspiring us all to live the dream.
Hey Evano, you're welcome and thanks. I'm sure glad the hot weather is done. Firewood is next.
John.....It is so nice to read of your life in Alaska and all that you are accomplishing! The remodel looks like it will fit your style quite nicely and you must take great pride in the hard work you have done to date. The weather has changed here a bit (warm days but nicely cool nights) and since I love the cool - that is fine with me! I live in an area where tourists come for the summer and that is fine, but when they go home, I feel like our area (beach and town) are finally ours again to enjoy fully! Thanks for posting your news and pictures - I really enjoy them. Chris
Thanks Chris, I am proud of what I have accomplished, especially using recycled material and building it all myself. I have come and seen a lot through my years. I know what you mean about tourists. They can be irritating here. Most of our roads are 2 lanes and you need a lot of patience when following the motorhomes. My posts should be getting better.
Hi! John, everything looks great, recycled things are a good way to do a lot of amazing things and get more life out of them!
Those tomatoe plants are really big! You said in the other post they were and it really shows with the deck pict! I always enjoy your posts and Picts! The pie a la mode was a great treat after all your work! Take care and thank you so much. Fall is great! The best time of the year to work outside! KC
Hi KC, glad you stopped by. Free is always good. I'm very gla you enjoy my blog and keep checking in. I certainly am glad for the cooler weather myself, although, I could do without the rain.
Great work! I can't wait to read about your remote cabin soon.
Thanks Carol, good to hear from you. Hope all is well. Hope to see you blogging more. Take care.
Hiya John...just checking in to see what's for supper (that's what we call dinner down south lol ) ...decided to eat healthy here also. Why is it hard to come up with healthy meals and the good olé bad foods just are so much easier to cook lol...I guess it's just getting your priorities in order.Im getting into the Fall mood now....siting by the fire drinking coffee but I'm still wearing my shorts lol life in the south can change each day.Wont be long until winter is upon us and then it's time to fuss about the cold looking for spring....guess we need to just learn to live in the moment and enjoy what the day brings. We aren't promised a tomorrow...Well hope all is well with you...my shoulder is on the mend with physical therapy.Take care my friend Bert from Bama.
Hi Bert, I know what you mean, healthy vs. bad? Good to hear you are on the mend. I'm enjoying this Fall with the cooler mornings. I wake mornings, it's 30 degrees and I sit at the picture window with my coffee. I'm all about enjoying life these days. Take care of yourself.
