Fall 2015

Well, Fall is here and I am excited about that, no more hot days. Woke up this morning to a clear Fall morning.
32 degrees

Started a fire to take the chill off
I decided to have an early breakfast to celebrate
I acquired a bunch of building materials and will now take on 2 projects, my shop and enclosing my porch to have an Arctic entry. These materials will save me a bunch of money, they were free. I had to stack them to air dry.

It doesn't look like a lot but, there is. The Arctic entry will help a lotlot, especially in the Winter. This town cabin is shaping up and now I can turn my attention to the remote cabin.

I suppose I have the time now to meet someone to share my life and the Wilderness adventure. I will close for now, take Care

UPDATE: because of the 30 degree temps. I decided to pick my tomatoes and bring them in. These are the beefsteak.
Then, I brought my Early Bush girls in, hoping they will ripen inside.

They take up a lot of room but, I'm hoping it's worth it.

Good morning John. Thanks for your comment on my blog. I replied to it there.

I always love free stuff! Can't wait to see what you do with it.

Hey John
Nice haul on the free Lumber.. An Arctic Entry should save you a noticeable amount of heat come winter and a shop is always a nice thing to have, to work on things you don't necessarily want to overhaul on the kitchen table.

You must have gotten the water pump on your car fixed.. Or were you just using that as a place to stack and dry wood ??

How did everything in your Green House hold up to the cool temps? We're going to be eating a lot of fried green tomatoes it looks like here. Got some nice looking beefsteak tom's but they just don't seem to want to ripen.

Over planted on the Carrots this year. If your in the area I Could load you up with a sack full..

Keep Warm.

Old John

Hi John, can hardly wait to get both projects done. Got the water pump done at Barney's on Vine, $300. My garden was better this year. I got quite a few cucumbers, 1 green pepper and tons of tomatoes. Check my blog again.

Well, that seems early to be so cold. I am not looking forward to winter but I guess if it puts the fires out, bring it. I envy you your remote cabin.

Hi Mary, I welcome the cold and Winter, makes me feel more alive. It's a good feeling living among Nature.

wow, you did great on tomatoes, John! I've had them ripen beautifully indoors on the windowsills. a good thing for that last pick before frost. great haul of the free wood. love free!! ack...we had such a fabulous cool week last week, but this one is back to hot and humid. I can't stand that high humidity, so I'll be griping the entire time. haha nice to see the update, and can't wait to see the new projects. (wish I had your breakfast right about now!) Debi

John, enjoyed your updated pics. Your garden did well. I shall not complain about the early fall to hit Maine, we do not need a fire to take the chill off yet! Hoping you find that someone special!

Hi Debbie, thanks. Good hearing from you. I'm making good use of that wood. I have tomatoes in my window but, 2 big tomato plants sitting in my kitchen. I could not handle humidity.

Hi Lynn, good to hear from you. Thanks for stopping by. I really enjoy Fall. I do know Fall is absolutely beautiful in the Fall time. Enjoy it

Hi John, can't wait for it to cool off here a bit. I love fall! Your tomato plants did very well, they should continue to ripen in the window. Great idea to build a arctic entry, sure will keep the heat in the cabin and to get some free wood to build it is a bonus. Hope you can get to your remote cabin this winter.

Hi Carol, thanks. I sure hope they ripen soon, I'm looking forward to tasting them. I'm glad about the Arctic entry as well, will also give me some storage room and keep my freezer out of the hot sun. I definitely will make it to the cabin and spend a lot of time there.

Hi! John, looks like you are keeping busy with some projects! The artic entry will be great and with free wood!
You sure have a lot of green tomatoes! Have you ever put them in a brown paper bag? That will ripen them!
I wish we had cooler weather, we are in the 80's and humid, for at least a week! will look for your next post, take care, KC

Hi KC, I will enjoy having an Arctic entry. I have to laugh, paper bags are hard to find here. I don't know any stores that use them. 80 and humid? Good luck.

Hi, been busy with the little one this summer. My tomatoes dont look as nice as yours. Had a great few yard sales. Just the beginning but more to come. Love the changes. Really like the porch you added. It really adds to your place. The entry should be a really nice touch. Nice to see your still around.

Can't wait for the new post! The weather is still warm here but every once in awhile, we get a cool breeze that lasts a moment or two so I know that change is coming! Have been considering when to get the firewood ordered....

Take care! Chris
