Well, so far, 2015 is starting out in a positive way except for snow. Many years ago I owned a 1995 Arctic Cat snowmachine that I really liked a lot. This machine was great for hauling logs out of the woods and great on gas. When I retired a few years ago, I sold it to someone in the village where I lived closed to. It ran good but, was kinda beaten up a bit and I didn't want to spend the big bucks bringing it back to the road system with me. I have always looked for another one, only in much better shape.
As the saying goes, "if you wait long enough, good things will come to you" something to that effect. Well, it happened.
SWEET, this machine is basically in showroom condition with 1600 miles and it is a year older than the one I had. I am now the 3rd owner of it. It is hard to imagine how excited I was to see this on Craigslist and bought it right away. I feel like a child getting his first BB gun, lol.
Anyway, we still have no snow and getting a lot of reports about the poor conditions on the rivers going to my remote cabin. Figures. The snowmachine I got for free is running but, I need to do some things to it before taking it on a long trip. $200 or $300 bucks should get it running dependable. I hope, lol.
The weather has been pretty warm and they are calling for rain/snow this week sometime. As you can see, the snow has melted off the trees.
Yep, I did get my wood stacked as you can see.
I know it doesn't look like a lot but, trust me, there are some big rounds there. What a job to split them. Glad I got it done. The temps have been in the 20's to 30's and this morning was a different tune.
This year is the craziest weather I have seen in many, many years. I have no idea how this Winter will go. I will close for now and soon will do the post on stocking a remote cabin for long periods. Take care

That is one nice looking snowmobile. What a score. I am sure you'll put it to good use.
Nice sled. Looks brand new. Nice find!
Thanks Mike, I sure will
Hi Ben, thanks. Good to hear from you.
sweet ride, John! I swear we have your weather, and you can have it back. lol actually, we've been up and down pretty much the same. freaks me out. :)
Hi Debbie, thanks. This machine is a good score. I will take any snow I can get. This weather is terrible.
Hi John...beautiful machine you have there. I am sure it will come in handy if you keep your snow. We too have had crazy weather with very little snow and temps all over the place.
You do have some pretty good sized logs that can be split into four or more pieces. You can't beat the feel of wood heat though, it goes straight to the bones...lol.
Looking forward to your post on stocking the remote cabin. It could help anyone that is stocking up for the winter in case of storms too. Well I wish you lots of snow John!
Carol
Hi Carol, it is a good find. There are some rounds that are really hard to split in this warm weather. We have snow but, it is has become hard from the warm weather and freezing rain we are getting.
That snow machine looks huge. Perfect for all the work you are going to do, right? Happy belated New Year. Weather here is up and down too (-21 to 38...) Today a warm wind came through and melted the snow quite a bit, so it's really slushy and muddy. Can't wait to read about stocking up the remote cabin.
Happy New year Carol, this machine will work for everything. The temps here are warm. Not sure when the snow will come.
Hi John. I'm thinking about you today. Seems I often think about you when I cook! Your food posts have obviously left an impression 😃. I hope you are well.
Hi Carol G, thank you, I am doing fine. That's one of the nicest compliments I have gotten. Makes me smile. 8-)
Hiya John well it looks like the northeast is getting all of your snow.Crazy weather going on.The weather here hasn't been normal. We have come close to getting snow and ice but then weather pattern changes. What are you doing to keep yourself busy these days?Havent done much here but sure need to get up and get on the move. But dreary rainy days don't help the couch potato mood.Waiting to hear about how to stock a remote cabin.Im sure its a well thought out job.Well take care my friend...Bert from Bama
Hi Bert, actually, we got snow and at the moment it's very cold and I am pretty much just chilling, no pun intended, lol. That post will come soon. Keep your spirits up.
Love the new machine. Hope all is well. We haven't heard from you for a while so... Wish I had some of that wood stacked in my yard. LOL I have a bunch just piled in a pile, not nicely stacked. LOL
Wash
Hi Wash, well, let's see, I have -20 temps, my car won't start, the new machine won't start, my phone isn't working, ahhh, things are good, lol
Ya I haven't tried to start mine yet. Then again I may have the munchkin do that this week while he is here. We weren't down that low unless you consider the wind chill.
Wash
how's it going, John? long time no hear. :o) hope you have thawed just a teeny bit to get the car/machine to start!! odd year...up and down weather. we have lot's of snow, and now temps are going right back down to nasty. oh well...winter. bundle up...eat good soup...and sit by the fire. that's my work-out. lol Debi
Hi Debbie, everything is good. The temps here are running between -0 to -25 mornings and hovering at 0 during the day. I am following your advice.

John, I agree with others. Time for another post. What better weather can you ask for than snow and cold for staying inside and putting your thoughts into your blog! Hugs!
