Good morning, I have a request for a recipe for the soup I have posted on my blog. I figured it would be fun and easier to do it this way.
It is a tasty soup and one of my most favorites. As many of you know, I don't go by established recipes, I make up my own with things I generally have on hand. Much more fun that way. I do taste it as I am making it to see what I need to make it better if needed. Anyway:
I fill the pot half full with water and bring it to a boil
add 3-4 handfuls of macaroni or any other pasta you may like.
As the macaroni is cooking, in a large skillet, I cook whatever meat I am using adding:
chopped onions, celery, carrots, mushrooms, parsley and anything else you care to. I use fresh vegetables if available or canned. Throw in some kind of beans also.
Once the macaroni is done, don't drain it, add everything in the skillet to the macaroni. Stir good.
Add a small can of tomato paste, stir and then add a small can of tomato sauce and stir. You then add water, tasting constantly to make it the consistency of soup.
A lot of times I will see what seasonings I have that might give it more taste and add just a bit, IE: Tobasco sauce, soy sauce, worstshire (sp?) sauce and so on.
When it comes to a boil, turn the burner down as low as you can and let it simmer for 1/2 hr. to 45 min.
Then, you fill a bowl, break off a hunk of your favorite homemade bread and enjoy.
That's pretty much it. For the most part, you can't go wrong with a big, hot pot of soup.
Hope this works for you CanadaEH.

Oh! How good that soup looks and sounds and when you said a hunk of bread, that did it! I am going to have to try making this soup. Thanks John for a great soup recipe. I love how you make your own according to what you have on hand.
Carol
Hi Carol, hope you let me know how it goes. I'm finding doing a post on food can be just as fun.
Hey John
our recipes are about the same. I prefer to toss in some chopped Turnips in mine. And I start with a big pot and brown the moose (meat) in the big pot and then toss everything in after it's browned, that way I don't have to wash extra skillet. Either way, it's great table fare on a rainy (or snowy) day eh..!
Old john
I don't wash them, I just wipe them out, lol
