Last night it started snowing lightly and this morning I woke up to about 4 to 6 in. Was I smiling? Oh yeah. The first picture is what I saw first then, I checked the temperature and made breakfast. After that, the rest of the photos tell the story. What we really need right now is a lot of freezing temps. To make the waterways safer to travel on. I am hoping to get out to my remote cabin soon.

HI John... I certainly don't get excited at the sight of snow and freezing temperatures as you do!!
Your like a kid on Christmas morning, lol!!
I do get the point in your case though!!
Well I hope it stays cold and snowy for you, but don't be sending it my way!! : ))

Hi grammie, thanks for stopping by. LOL, I am like a kid at Christmas. I won't send any your way, gonna hog it all to myself. FA LA LA
Hey John
Lookin good up there.! Today you are lucky you don't have a car to deal with. All the roads down here are black ice covered with 3 to 5 inches of wet snow. There are going to be a lot of fenders bent, Ditch Diving and other forms of auto-stupidity. Don't go near the Glenn hwy into Los-Anchorage for 3 or 4 days til those California drivers either learn how or go back to Cali... Now if the Rivers would just hurry up and freeze... Today I'm going to uncover the Snow-goes and get them all started and running right.
stay warm

Hey John P.S.
Happy Veterans day

Hi John, as you know, I don't travel south much and don't go to Anc. at all. I talked my friend up on the Talachulitna and he said, ice is forming along the banks and the ponds are getting light ice. I figure another month before traveling.
Back at ya
John, Love reading your blog. How far away is your remote cabin? How does that work in Alaska? Do you own the land your remote cabin is on or rent or is it public land. Just curious as I love reading about the Alaska lifestyle of homesteading and self sufficiency.

Hi Rick, it's a 2 hr. Snowmachine ride from Willow. I own my cabin and property as well as my town cabin. It can be a great life.
Hi bert, looks like our Winter won't last for long according to weather reports. Rain and snow coming. I'm afraid I will be the only turkey at the table. Will be by myself. Thanks for stopping by
