It is 9:13 a.m. Alaska time and night is giving way to a new day. The sky is grey and a light rain is hitting my roof. I just checked the temperature and it reads 40 degrees, to warm for this time of year.
I woke up about 5:30 a.m. and stoked the fire in the stove and heated the coffee I made before going to bed last night. To me, it seems to taste better doing it that way.
Sitting in my favorite chair sipping hot coffee, fire crackling and looking out the picture window watching the Chickadees arrive for breakfast has a very calming affect on me and gives me time to think.
A couple of days ago my car died and it made worry a bit of what to do. I did sell it as a parts car and got more than I paid for it, (got it free). Quite frankly, not seeing it in my driveway or anything for that matter, doesn't bother me at all. The more I think about it, it was an expense and sort of made me a slave being dependent on it.
I am thinking now, I really don't need it, soon there will be snow and I will be moving to my remote cabin. The only transportation I will need is a snowmachine and my dogs.
There is no better feeling than being free to live simply and living a life practically worry free. As soon as freeze up occurs, I will depart for my remote cabin. I am also putting my town cabin up for sale. I have a couple of people interested.
My attitude has changed lately in the way that, I will not allow this weather to get me down or anything else for that matter. It's not worth the aggravation.
Sooo, from now on, my posts will not include negative feelings or subjects. All they do is make you have a bad and ruin it.
I wish everyone a pleasent day and future days as well.

Well, I am glad you aren't letting the weather get you down. It has to rain sometimes, I guess. We were pretty happy to get the rain we just had here as we were way too dry. Sorry to hear about your car. Mine is on the way out too and unfortunately I can't use a snowmobile or dogs here, lol, so we are looking for another one.
Hi becky, vehicles can be a pain. I'm hoping it will freeze first and then turn to snow.

Got clear down to 32 here last night. Great minds think alike - I always make a pot of coffee before I go to bed, then the first thing I do when I Crawl out of bed is hit the ON button and I got fresh hot coffee ready as soon as I get dressed and feed the hound. (out at the cabin I have to light a fire - but you knew that)
I like your attitude on the car. they are such a pain, and expense. registration, taxes (if you under 60) insurance, summer tires, winter tires, gas, maintenance, etc... I've only bought 2 brand new pickups in my 3/4 century. 1 We drove cross country and up the Alcan, (then sold it) the other I bought a new Ford.. nothing but warranty problems so sold it and bought a good used truck...
I'm ready for some frost and snow. Got all the machines tuned up and ready to go.

Hi John, with the car gone, I have reverted back to survival mode. I feel I had started to lose that. I am going to do a post on that.
Not long before you're deep in snow as well as thought! It's good to hear how you gear up for surviving and embracing the winter, and getting back to "yourself."

Hey John, that positive attitude will make all the difference. Won't be long now and the cold and snow will be here to stay. I'm enjoying the wet and warm while it lasts but tonight it is already down in the 20s. Stay healthy!
Hi Carol, the temps here have gone down dramatically. Right now, it's about 10 pm and it's 18 degrees. 26 was the high and frost everywhere.
