Hi folks, I decided it is time to change things, my blog seems to have fallen by the wayside and have lost supporters. I really do enjoy doing this blog, 1. I get to meet other people. 2. This is a venue that I can look back when I want to visit the good ole days. 3. Gives me something to do. 4. I get to meet other people. I am thinking about keeping a daily blog or at least every other day. If I do it this way, it will get me out every day {hopefully, lol}. I encourage anyone reading this, tell me what you think.
TAKE CARE ALL

Hello....
I personally enjoy very much reading your blog but would enjoy it more if the posts were more frequent....Not every blog post has to have some "momentous event" but I do enjoy reading about what is happening in your days. You live in a beautiful place with a furry friend that shares your days and we need to know what fills your days.........current activities, memories, changes to your property (and why), travels, along with whatever other interests you enjoy! It is my hope that you continue to blog as often as you are able....Just my two cents - - - do what is best for YOU!
Chris
I am always excited to see a new post so the more the better! I agree it doesn't have to be momentous. Just hearing about your day in Alaska is interesting, the weather, updates on your dog, wildlife, etc.
Thanks Chris, I value your input.
Thanks 518, I will try my best.
We check in everyday. The more the merrier.
Thanks bigfoot, appreciate that.
Hi, John! I, also, check in every day! I thoroughly agree with Chris! We all lead somewhat mundane lives to us, but enjoy hearing about other’s lives as it can be quite different from our own. Like I live in the somewhat arid NW part of Texas and you live in a land of trees and rain and snow, what could be more different and interesting? Just use us as your journal, be it a few words or many. Happy or sad. We’re here.
Blessings! CottonLady
I would love to see more posts! I like seeing the snow, the inside of your cabin and even the meals you cook! I’m curious about your grocery shopping and how far it is for you to go. Maybe pictures of your closest neighbors, do you have any wildflowers or maybe pictures of birds! Lots of pictures would be ok with me! I was raised in snow country but have lived in central texas for 53 years so really enjoy pictures of the snow & oh yes, your best friend, the Dog! 😂
Hey John
I would h ope you continue to write. I think more often is more better.
I enjoy reading what you have to say, but more so I enjoy seeing the reactions of your "outside" Readers to your way of life.
take care
Old John
Thanks Cotton, I appreciate your input a lot.
Thanks J, it's a nice to know all those things interest you. I will follow through the best I can.
Thanks John, good to hear from you. Hope all is well with you. Hopefully, I can live up to everyone's expectations.
I would like to read post from you every day. However from personal experience I know how difficult it is to maintain that rate of postings. Have you considered social media for daily interaction? Much easier to post just a couple of sentences when ever you want. Rather then feeling like you need to come up with more since you are blogging. I'd venture to say that there are far more folks who could find you and would be interested in your daily activities then you will gather with a blog.
I think of it more as conversations on Facebook. A couple of years ago my ankle stopped working. I posted about it on Facebook. One of my friends who I met through a Ukulele interest group on Facebook happens to be a semi-retired surgeon in Australia. He strongly encouraged me to go immediately to a hospital emergency room.
John you and I are about the same age. Social media isn't just for kids. I think there is a good possibility that you will enjoy the experience.
Have a Great Day!
Hi Jim, thanks for your input and I appreciate it. I did think about that and I studied some of the social medias but, I'm not sure I want to open myself to that many people. When I started the blog, I had about 76 friends and that was good enough for me. I still would like to keep it to 100 or less. That's still a lot but, manageable. Thanks again.
Very understandable! You can indeed limit your friends on Facebook. Anyone who would like to "friend" you on Facebook first has to request to be a Facebook friend. You need to approve their request.
You can also limit who sees your postings. You have options of letting everyone see them, or just your "Facebook friends", or you can even restrict it to even just a few specific friends.
In addition if you find one of your "Facebook friends" is becoming a pain or troll. You can block that specific individual. When you block someone they can't contact you and vice versa. You can always remove the block sometime down the road if you like, but you certainly don't have to.
If you start to feel overwhelmed you can always take a hiatus for awhile. As a matter of fact I am currently maintaining a very low profile on Facebook currently. I typically take a break around income tax due dates.
Thanks Jim but, I prefer this way.
Hiya John I too check in everyday on your blog.... it’s totally understandable that you can’t blog everyday. Blogging everyday can get overwhelming easily. 3 times a week and more at times if able. Of course everyone is interested in your life in Alaska especially me way down here in the south. Tell us more about your life in the Navy & how life was working at the lodge & what all you did ,that seems exciting to me. More about your family, and why you chose your lifestyle living off grid. I loved hearing about your outhouse lol and when you painted it. Tell us more about how close you are to any neighbors or lodges, I wonder sometimes if you get lonely and I worry when you go so long without blogging that something is wrong and we may never know ( old worrier me lol) I’ve been following you for several years and consider you a friend. Take care my friend ....... Bert From Bama
You live an interesting life. I check every few days for a new post and photos...even of your dinner. Write/post more.
Hi Bert, thanks for your interest and concerns. I will try my best to do better. Thanks for the suggestions.
Hi Art, 👋 I will do my best. I am working on something now.
Hello John
I'm in the UK and have been enjoying your blog for a few years now, but haven't left a comment before. I agree with Chris and Bert - I'd love to read more frequent posts and I also worry if there's a long gap (daft I know). I enjoy all the day-to-day stuff about your life as it's quite different from my life over here. I particularly like your photos, the improvements you make to the cabin, the wildlife and nature that surrounds your home (especially the snow and how cold it gets in the winter). I live alone too with dogs as my companions (although not as isolated as you) so most of all I enjoy seeing and reading about how you do it halfway around the world from me. Other things I'd like to read... how you got to Alaska, your life before you retired, your plans for the future, training Freddy etc. Hope that's some useful feedback.
Ishbel
Hi Ishbel, thank you for commenting and I'm glad you did. I would never have known someone from a different country is watching my blog. That's exciting to me. I'm glad you stopped in and will try to honor your request. WOW!I never thought of being International, thanks again.
You might want to share tips and tricks for living off grid...or off grid in Alaska. If you are looking for content. You have a plethora of experience that I know many would be interested in. Just a thought.
Wash
Thanks Wash, that is another good idea. Hope things are going well with you and Seth. Thanks for sharing.
We are floating back and forth between a running vehicle and problems... he is working full time and we are trying to triple my garden space this yr plus bring in over 100 chicks to raise for meat... we have been busy, and tired... but still kicking...
Just as a side note... even though people don't say anything Im sure you have a greater following than you think you do... Some people come to just read. Another thing, it is spring/summer and people are more busy than they are in the winter time... Just a couple thoughts on the feeling like the viewership has fallen off. I don't check in as frequently as I would like but you know me if I see you haven't posted in a month... I call you to make sure you are ok... LOL
Wash.
Thanks Wash.
Hi John, as so many have already mentioned up above, I too will read as much content as you have the time to publish. lol Blogs like yours have always been my favorite format and unfortunately have lost space to places like Twitter and Facebook. Personally I will never have anything to do with either of those btw. Far too many people have forgotten how to conduct themselves and treat others with respect and dignity. Add in how intrusive and willing to invade your privacy they are all to make a buck by selling your personal data and it's a no-brainer.. a private blog is a far superior choice. One option you might explore if you want to increase your user interaction..an embedded Chat on the page like Chatango or Discord. Take care. M.
Hey John, a daily blog is a big commitment. It's sad people aren't reading blogs like they used to. I see it in my blog views also. I'll keep reading.
Thanks Mary, I've been getting scammers from your blog, are you getting many?
Hi M, you're right about that. To many social networks that people are signing up to. I will start blogging soon.

I don't often post an answer, but do know that I enjoy reading your blog and your adventures in Alaska.
Thanks Northco, I appreciate that. Post soon to come.
