What a life

I feel really good for a change. Before I go on, the person I talked to about trading cabins, seems to busy to come down and look at my cabin. He owns a construction company and is building an airplane hanger right here in the subdivision. I've spoken to him twice and he tells me, he will be down at the end of the day.  Nope, not yet. You would think I would be pissed but, I'm not. Wouldn't do me any good. Enough about this subject.

It's 9:30 pm and 76 degrees. It got to 85 today and for the past week.
I have been feeling pretty good for a couple of weeks, not feeling down. I had to think long and hard. With taking care of 2 properties, it's a lot for one person, especially when you can't just hop in your vehicle for one of them. So, I will concentrate on the town cabin for now. I was on Facebook looking at a site called Homesteading. Someone had made a project out of pallets and it was really kool. Well, I got pallet fever and googled wood pallet projects, when pictures of different projects came up I was hooked. I went to the local Lowes and they told me to go out back and take what I want in their junk pile. I have been going every chance I can and got many pallets. They look like brand new. By the way, Home Depot turned me down.

Here's a couple of projects I made, just something simple.

Spice rack

As you can see, I still have pans hanging on the wall with nails. I changed that.

Look to the left of the Spice rack
After
This a no brainer, nail a piece across the bottom, nail to the outhouse and put my shovels, rakes and whatever inside.
With my old tv antenna falling apart, I acquired this one and loss 3 of my 7 channels.
I saw this one on Amazon for $35. The ad claimed it has a range of 180 miles and it has a motor with a remote to rotate the antenna from inside. I am 80 miles North of Anchorage. I put it up today, it works great and have my 7 channels back.
My window flowers and driveway flowers are doing real well.

Well, that's enough for tonight. It's 11:21 and time for bed. I will post again in a couple of days. Good night and take care.

Things are looking up

I feel, I am coming out of my funk. This weekend I was planning on a trip to the Denali Highway but, I cancelled because of rain. It just didn't make sense going to such a beautiful place in pouring rain. So, I went shopping instead and bought pizza and some nails. Made a stop at the local thrift shop but, didn't see anything that interest me.

It's a 40 mile trip home and that gives one time to think about things. Well, I did think. Since I bought this property and built the cabin, I lost the reason I did this. It was suppose to be a place to come to when in town for supplies. I got caught up in the town lifestyle and it has got way out of control. I came to my senses last night as I layed in bed. So, woke up this morning made my coffee and a hearty breakfast. Yep, my favorite

I'm a firm believer, a great early morning breakfast and fantastic coffee with a great view. In the lower right hand corner is a bird bath.
I took an old cake pan and nailed it to a stump
Over time, I have made this town cabin, look like a regular home of sorts and to tell the truth, it has made me feel uncomfortable and still does. After this coming Thursday 7/07, it will change one way or another. And you ask, why? Well, I talked with someone who may be interested in trading his remote cabin on 5 acres on a lake with a 5000 ft. airstrip for both my properties. This airstrip was put there in the 60's for exploration which didn't pan out. Here are some photos. At present, he is putting a new roof on and adding a wrap around deck.

I am really hoping this deal goes forward, if it does, I will be out there setting up a household before you know it. Now, if  it doesn't, I will expedite my downsizing and go from there. Hoping you all keep your fingers crossed. Take care.

Happy Independence Day
