Update

Well, it's June and the hot weather is setting in.
I didn't think the hot weather would start this soon. I really haven't been doing to much lately. I did get my tomato, bell pepper and strawberry plants.

Strawberry

Tomato in the black planters, Bell pepper in the red one

I saw these flowers and thought they would dress up my driveway and provide some color. Everything is brown and green, very depressing. These are called Gerbera Daisy.
I decided it was time to build my generator shed

This is the beginning of the project and I hope to finish it soon. Right now, I am spending most of my time going to the VA for yearly tests I have to do them twice a year to keep my medical eligibility. I am also going to Acupuncture once a week. I hope to come up with more posts soon.  I will admit, I have been kinda lazy concerning everything and hope to perk up. Take care

Hi John.... Looks like you are having weather that we had in May. Temps up in the high 80's and some 90's and very dry.
June has started with temps in the 40's and rain. I had to put the heat on in the house. Yikes!!!!
Your daisy are nice and cheery, and looks like your doing some veggies again this yea

Good luck with all those health test. I always hate to get that done, but what can you do :}

Hope the black flies and mosquitoes aren't bad this year . The ticks are awful here this year. They give me the creeps, but I like to be outside so I guess I will have to get used to it.

Hi grammie, I can't figure this weather out any more. It's not just here, but, all over. I need to get my cucumbers in. So far, the mosquitos aren't bad.

LOL, you've got our weather and we want it back.

Hi John , That is going to be a good size generator shed. As for the weather it is crazy! Our weather has been up and down...one minute you have shorts on and the next your lighting the fire. The black flies are really bad here.(Chased me out of the ditch the other day lol.) Mosquitos haven't started yet. Glad to see your back into gardening again this year and your flowers are beautiful. Always nice to have a little color around. I hope all goes well with the medical tests and the acupuncture.
Happy gardening,
Carol

Hey John, Glad to see your getting back into gardening… What kind of tomatoes are you growing this year? I got a couple Russian heirlooms that are looking real nice. I lost half my strawberries this past winter, trying to find someone "locally" that sells some good bare root, ever-bearing, strawberries to fill up the blanks. Most of my garden is looking good, except one row of yellow wax beans.. I don't know why I keep trying to grow them…

Thought about you yesterday… My 21 yr old GRand son and I took a little boat ride out to the cabin.. Had a devil of a time getting the 6 wheeler started, but got it hitting on all 1 cyls finally.. then we took a little ride to the cabin.. cleaned up the mess the bears made when they broke into the storage cabin and got into the neighbors stash of ramen soup… Was going to go to the lake and catch a couple pike, but couldn't get the *&^%$# 6 wheeler to start again… gave up and hiked the 3 miles of muskeg, out to the boat and came home.
A little stiff today… (: >))
Stop by some time your coming to town, or going to Anchorage…

Hi Carol, I'm making it big enough to hold gas cans, oil and a few other things. I don't have black flies here and glad of that. The mosquitos aren't bad yet. Hopefully, the garden will do well. Thanks, the tests are coming along fine, so far

Hi John, I'm going with the Bush Early Girl tomatoes again this year, they did good last year. Maybe, one of these times your wax beans will take off. Sounds like you had quite a time at the cabin, those pesky bears, lol. See any on your walk out?

Hey John
Yes, those Early Girls do good, especially since you got a little green house for them. Stupice do good outside, like on the south side of the house.. A friend gave me some seeds for an old Russian Heirloom, and it's really looking good.

No didn't actually see any bears this trip, talked to a neighbor, on the lake, they've taken 3 spring black bears this year, one right in their front yard. Did see a moose cow with a very fresh, still wet calf. may have been twins, but the brush is so thick and high, it was hard to tell. Usually this time of year, walking that trail, one flushes several old grouse hens with a fresh brood, but didn't see any that trip. going back in about a week with a new battery for the 6x.

I like the Early Girl. Once I get projects done here I will experiment with others. That would have made a nice picture of the cow and calf. Usually, I have a lot of Spruce hens around here, not this year.

Someone posted on FaceBook a little video of a cow and twins playing in someone's sprinkler, in Anchorage…

Hi John, I was watching a show called the last alaskans and some guy and his wife ate the raw stomach of a caribou or something like that. First image that popped in my head was you eating a steak with corona, saying this how I roll in alaska hehe .

Hi Rumbarr, steak and corona, oh yeah, that's me. LOL

We are having strange weather in the Pacific NW. My friend from Nondalton has been going to fight fires..he is headed to Aniak. Do you ever worry about fires where you are? I was up near Fairbanks for a month on fires in 2004.

Hi Mary, I worry about fires when they are close to either of my properties. Who is your friend in Nondalton? I lived therr for 10 years.

Hi! John, glad to see you are keeping busy, your generator shed will be a convenient way
to keep it high and dry with storage space ! The flowers are beautiful,
and it's nice to have fresh produce this summer.
Hope you are doing well with your diet and the medical tests. As always I enjoy your posts.
Take care. KC

Thanks KC, the shed will be a big help storing oil gas, etc. Thought it was time to add some color instead of just brown and green. So far, tests are good.

Finally feeling better. Little one came back from Anchortown sick and gave it to me... He has been almost 2 months with his cough and Im going on a month now. Tired of being sick. This illness didnt even respond to any of the natural medication I used. Ended up having both of us put on antibiotics. Going to start yard sales next week. Hoping to have about 3/4 of the stuff sold off by the first week in July.

Good to see you posting again.

Hi Wash, hope you both recover soon, glad you are having a yard sale, you are well on your way to downsizing. I have a few projects going on here. I need to get rid of a few more things myself. Always something.

Hi John! I am so enjoying the summer season. I have been so busy, and spend much of my time outside, doing yard chores or just enjoying nature. This time of year is so exciting after a long winter. We're heading out on our first camping trip of the season. We'll be checking out the Dempster Hwy in NWT, with a stop for Chickenstock along the way. Hope all goes well with your checkups.

Take care, Susan
