FIRE UPDATE

Good news, it's been reported the fire is reduced to 7200 acres, I've heard 2 different reports that the fire is contained either 53% or 79%, I hope the latter. Those who were evacuated and/or lost their home are now permitted to return to their property and travel on the highway is now back to  normal. I am very relieved. I mentioned how the Willow Fire Captain had lost his home while fighting the fire, well, the Alaska State Troopers caught a couple trying to steal things from his property.

I guess now I can finish the projects that I started without fear of losing them. I'm also making plans to make a trip to the remote cabin as soon as I can save enough to fly out and back. Depending on the type of plane, the trip each way is $350-$450. I need to finish my projects first.  Any way, I mainly wanted to update you on the fire and my situation. I appreciate all of your kind words and concerns for me and those who were impacted my the fire. It means a lot. Thank you.

John. I am glad you are able to continue on with your projects. that was a long and trying week to see how the outcome would be for your place. I am always amazed that people can be so thoughtless to others bad fortune by stealing things from them, too. It happens everywhere anymore. Hope you get to fly out to your remote cabin. Have you heard of any fires near there? Hope the weather is getting better and take care. KC

Great news! You must be so relieved! I've been following the weather in Alaska (Palmer & Wasilla area) and I cannot believe how warm it has been. Hope it cools off a bit for you!

Thanks KC, I understand there are many fires going on. The news reported 128 fires started this weekend alone. 3 started by humans, the rest by lightening.

Hi John,
I am so glad that things are starting to improve with the wildfire. Isn't it terrible how someone could take advantage of someone else who lost everything. Lives will be changed for forever. I hope you can get to your remote cabin and that everything is ok there. I hope your projects are going well and look forward to seeing what you are working on. Has the temperature gotten any cooler for you? Thanks John for keeping us up to date on how you and the wildfires were doing.
All the best,
Carol

Hiya John glad to hear things are back to normal and you had no damage...it's sad for those that did..I followed the fire reports and weather in your area daily. The fire fighters from Alaska and all areas have done a great job ...I heard on news this morning there was an earthquake in Anchorage. ..did you feel it in your area? Temps here have been brutal with heat index 101...forecast say rain for weekend and so looking forward to it...I'm already looking for Fall lol...take care my friend. ..Bert from Bama

High Bert, thanks. I agree, The Firefighters did a great job. Actually, the earthquake centered here where I am, it registered 6.2 on the scale.

Glad your ok... I knew it was over a 6.0. I was in Anchorage when it hit and every one was freaking out. Kinda funny really. I like them till they are over 6.2 to 6.4 then I get a bit nervous. Munchkin and I are still fighting a cold some what. We have gotten a pile of stuff together to try to get a yard sale up for later today. Hoping it goes well considering all the road construction on the way to my place. LOL Just the start with a long way to go. LOL Cant wait to see what you have done.

Hey Wash, things here were shaking but, nothing came tumbling down, lol. Good to hear you're both on the mend. Once you sell a lot of stuff, you will feel better. Good luck
