Not much really going ont

It's about 9:17 pm.  Decided it was time to let you all know, nothing is going on. Been to town a few times, been cleaning up the property getting ready to have more fill brought in. The sun has been out for a while now and drying the ground up. My plan in the next week or two or three, is to build an outdoor shower room and my shop/storage shed. The lakes, rivers and creeks are thawing out and should be ready for fishing. I have been looking for a canoe or cataraft to buy and do some fishing. I also plan to take some weekend trips for some photo opportunities and to just get away.

The mosquitoes are out, just a few but, still very annoying. I have been eating more healthy and have cut out many snacks, soda and chocolate, yep, my favorite. It's been very favorable to my Type 2 Diabetes. My blood sugar has been averaging 200-225, the norm is 90-120. This morning when I checked my blood sugar, it was 167. This is a big improvement and I feel much better.

Other than that, not much else to say. I do have some photos to share. Hopefully, I will have more.

One of my favorite meals, how could you not enjoy good old fashion American Hot Dogs? Yum
This is a Shrimp Stirfry

Grilled Chicken Strips, steamed peas and carrots and Roasted  Garlc mashed potatoes.

Found this photo taken about 25 years ago when I lived in the mountains, these were my best friends. Joe who has the red shirt was killed in a plane crash coming from a fishing trip. The other is Al, he and his wife moved to Arizona.

Well, that will do for now, I hope to have something more substantial soon. Hope everyone is enjoying Spring. Take care

Salt, soda and sugar will do it every time. Avoid them at all cost. The soda pop especially as it eats away at your bones and teeth. Particularly if you are older. Next time you have a bone put it in a glass of coke and what what happens to it over the next couple of weeks. Cut out the salt and chips and your blood pressure will go down. You will retain less water and you will find it easier to drop some weight.

Keep up the good work John with the healthy eating. Food can make such a difference in how we feel doesn't it.
Your food looks good but you know me I love your stirfry, they are always so colorful.
What a good idea to have an outdoor shower and a shop/storage shed will come in handy for the winter. After a long winter it is nice to feel the sun getting stronger.
Love your photos. The one with you and your friends looks like you were having fun by the smiles on your faces. Nice to hear from you.

Thanks, it's pretty hard to give up all the fatty and greasy foods, lol, but had to be done and I feel better. The shop and shower will be a big help. That day, me and my friends cut 8 cords. No way could I have done it myself.

Great food! Glad you are taking care of yourself! I am in Iowa visiting my 93 year old Mother over Mother's Day. Getting lots of rain here and back home in Texas.

I enjoy seeing all your pictures! Take care.

Blessings!

Hi! John, gotta say you are eating some really good meals! Glad you are dropping your blood sugars. The artificial sweetener in the diet sodas makes you crave the other sweets they say and I agree and the amount of sugar in regular soda is high. Keep up the good diet!
I always enjoy your Picts of the sky and the silhouette of the trees. Wow a lot of wood cut in a day! Thanks for sharing. Take care, KC

Hi KC, thanks. I am enjoying my new eating habits. When I go shopping, I walk the candy, chip and soda aisle to test myself, lol. Lots of work left.

imo a life without chocolate is a life not worth living, but I do rein it in. An outdoor shower in Alaska. Now that sounds interesting!

Hi Mary, I agree on the chocolate but, it is what it is. They are everywhere some are screened in and others are a shower house. That's my project.

Hi John, I love seeing your plates filled with veggies and meat! Keep it up. Looks delicious and healthy! I gave up grains, sugar and dairy for 60 days this year and it reset my metabolism and helped me take off 23 lbs. Thankfully it's staying off too. I am eating some of that stuff now, but it doesn't make me feel well, so I try to avoid it.

I'm loving spring in Illinois. So much green and the wildlife is amazing too! We have baby fox kits nearby, tons of turkeys, pheasants, and other birds. I miss Alaska sometimes, but try to enjoy the good things about Illinois too.

Hi Carol, thanks. I'm really enjoying this healthier part of me, it makes me feel good. I can understand liking where you are at now. Many times I think about being somewhere without mosquitoes and having Summer nights under the stars. In a way, I envy you. Take care and enjoy your Summer.

Thanks John, I'll try :)

I myself am not doing all that great cutting down on sugar and I haven't even tried cutting out soda. I have been getting more exercise though as new job makes me walk up hill to the kiosk to collect money a couple of times a day and I have been eating better because I am bringing sandwiches for lunch instead of noodles. I am feeling better lately too which has helped. I believe I was going through some depression before though I was fighting it all the way, lol.

Just waiting for school to get out Thursday so we can get started on summer activities. Cant wait to get the yard sales going and really down size and get rid of stuff... Garden, a bit of fishing, and then yard sales non stop till all gone, fix the house and put it on the market. There is now a few people out here that build tiny houses. It I may have someone frame and dry in the trailer for me. To much to try to add that to my summer duties...
What is your summer plans?

Wash

Bushrat John said...

Hey Wash, good for you. You will be relieved once you get stuff sold and start building your tiny cabin. Good idea to have someone else build it. Take it easy and enjoy Summer. My plan is not to spend so much time on my properties and spend more time on me.
