New life changes

Hi everyone, it is raining still, seems it stops long enough to let you think it's ok to go out and do something and it starts right back up again. which has brought me to rethink everything that is going on. So, maybe the rain is exactly what I needed to make this change.

I still would like to find me a companion to spend my life with and to do things as well as have fun but, I am not going to dwell on it. If someone comes along and is the right person for me, it's a bonus.

As I said, I have been sitting in the town cabin because of the rain and doing a lot of thinking and something has to change in order for me to get right in my mind. I know, I may never get to that point, lol.

I have decided to stop working on the town cabin and live with what I have, except with the roof, it has to be fixed.

Everyone has guessed by now that, I am past my departure to my remote cabin and that's ok. I am looking at going up the middle of July or August. I won't do the addition and all the other work until next Spring. I am just going to start my new life in a new year. My plan is to spend the Winter at the remote cabin and am looking into having Internet there so I can keep in touch with everyone.

I'm feeling pretty good about this decision and I believe all of you will see the change in me and my attitude. Anyway, life is good and it's getting better. Here are some photos I took.

Making special biscuits

I topped them with melted butter, cinnamon and brown sugar.

The results

When done, I sliced one open and spread with Jelly, Mmmm! Good

My Strawberry plant

My tomato plants

My cucumber plant

Moroccan Mint

These are a mix of sweet peppers and cantaloupe I started from seed.

Don't know the name of this plant but, it is growing crazy since I put it outside.

Well, that pretty much does it, Take care

John I love your way of thinking. Your on the right path. I hope you do get internet at your remote cabin I would love to see some photos. Your biscuits look so yummy, especially with the jelly. Your garden is doing great and the plant you didn't know the name of, I think is a Christmas Cactus. Look up Christmas Cactus and see what you think. If it is the will have beautiful blooms.

That definitely looks like a Christmas cactus. The biscuits look great. Have you ever made fireweed jelly? I'm dying to try some but first I have to find some fireweed!

Hi John. I am so sorry your plan did not work out, but as others have said, better to find out now than later. I am so glad that you are feeling good about your new plans. I, too, hope you can get internet at your remote. I love reading about your life in Alaska.

That is a Christmas cactus and it is normally a house plant. It likes to bloom in the winter with red or hot pink blooms.

Take care...sorry I did not get a comment off sooner. Have had a lot of farm stuff to take care of.

Blessings!

Hi! John,
I hope things are going well for you and you are looking forward to the trip to your cabin. Your veggie plants look good and will give you some delicious treats! I've had a few strawberries and looking forward to some squash soon. Question! Is the ground in AK good to plant veg. Etc or do you have to boost it with peat moss etc? Thanks for posting. Take care. Kc

Hi KC, thanks, actually our ground is very good for growing but, it is our long daylight that helps. Working at the remote cabin will be fun if the weather holds out.

Hello John, This is actually a Zygo Cactus I have two at my back door. One has a beautiful coral flower and the other is hot pink. Here in our part of Australia it flowers in late autumn although our seasons are all out of wack here at the moment. It should be cold here now but we have had the most amazing warm sunny day. Wearing shirts, when we should be wearing woolies. I'm looking forward to reading about your adventures. I found you through "simplyfree".
Blessings Gail.
