I'm Fine

Hi everyone, seems some were a bit worried about me and I appreciate that. Nothing is wrong, I've been taking some "alone time" hanging out at the town cabin thinking about things that I need to do or not to do. Not to mention the heat is back. It had been cool for a week and a half and now it is back to the 80s. The evenings are real nice, around 60 degrees and the mornings are 50 degrees. For some reason, that sun hasn't figured it out yet that I want it to not come around as much.

The mosquitoes have lessened some but, there are enough to be real annoying. I try to go out and get work done but, between the heat and bugs, nuttin gets done. I suppose also, I have been feeling kind of down and really need to get over that feeling. Not sure why I am but, I am. I some what think it's because I miss a lot of my friends when I was out in the Lake Clark area. These are people I fished, hunted and bs'd a lot with. We did a lot of things together. I miss the pot lucks.

I will be busy this week though, I am building a 10'x16' deck on the front of the cabin and moving the outhouse so, hopefully by next Monday, I will have pictures to share. Oh! I forgot, I hooked up an old TV antenna I had and get 3 channels, 360 North, Food Channel and PBS. I've only watched it once. I still like my radio better. Basically, I watch the TV when I am charging batteries. Anyway, just touching base with everyone, take care. John

Heat or no heat, you need to get out more. Curious, if your going to get that socialization if you move to your remote cabin? If your missing it, maybe you should rethink the isolation there, if it is bothering you at the town cabin. Just my thoughts. Even if you were remote at Lake Clark you could still hop on a snow machine or ATV and go see people.

Son and I spent 3 days this weekend wandering around with Janice Schofield, learning about the edible and medicinal plants that grow naturally in this area. Had a blast.

Glad you checked in, John. Was kind of wondering if you were o.k.
Sorry the heat is so bad up there. It's been miserable here except last week we got some rain and cooler temps for a few days. Now the heat is back..but this is NW Texas and lived with it for 30 years, so guess I should adapt someday.

What about going to your remote for the summers? Do hope all is better for you soon. And, yes, we would like some summer pictures on your header!! So there I gave you something to do in the early morning or evening hours!!

Take care, John. Blessings!

Well Wash, when you have many friends for many years and move away one day, you don't just forget them. We shared many good times and many bad times together. It's not the isolation, it's the memories.

Hi cotton, I could never live in Texas with the heat you get. I will work on the Summer pictures.

Glad to hear that you are ok John. Have been missing your updates :)

Thanks Paul, I think it's healthy for people to take some " me time " now and then.

Hey John
guess I was the only one that wasn't worried. I thought you'd flown out to your Skwentna property and were busy fighting the bugs out there.. this heat is something else isn't it! I'm afraid to go too far for too long or everything in my Green house will burn up.. Been entertaining grandkids all month.. Gettin in some decent fishing.. The fish they catch is vacuum packed and in the freezer for them to take home when their folks come to get them. I'd like to lay in a few Reds for "winter meat" but haven't had the chance to go where they are yet. Stay cool,.

Hi John, you know me pretty well and what I am all about. Not having a bost puts a hamper on getting fish myself and not knowing this area very well or anyone to fish with. I will give you a call soon.

I'll trade ya this Florida heat for yours anyday hehe . Speaking of fishing on another post, isn't there like streams or rivers you can fish from the bank ?

You should drive into town once in a while and have a couple of cold ones with some of the locals.I'd go nuts if I didn't have a watering hole to go to here and there.

Hi Rumbar, the closest bar is 11 miles away and beer is $7 a bottle. A guy could go broke having a good time. I'm not really a bank fisherman, not that there is anything wrong with that. I will be doing more when I get a part for my car.

Hey John
chuckled at your TVC ant. I think all 3 of those channels are PBS (KSKA). A trick you might try is to tune your TV to a different Chl, then move the Antenna a little in either direction to see if it improves reception. I'd think that if you can get KSKA you should be able to pull in other chnls as well, But maybe you need to raise the antenna higher because of the trees. Stay cool

Hey John, actually I did raise it and it works fine
