Just one of those days

Well, so far every day has been one of those days. HOT, HOT, HOT and Mosquitoes, Mosquitoes, Mosquitoes. I have not had the energy to do anything except sit around inside listening to radio or watching a movie here and there. Even going for a ride seems to be a chore with the heat and Mosquitoes. I don't enjoy spraying myself down with repellent. I did resolve my Mosquito problem at the town cabin. I recovered my eaves and I built a screen door and that did the trick. I have photos but, I forgot to download them.

I was suppose to have a ride up to my remote cabin to take supplies and it was all set up and my pilot had to cancel out. He fly's for UPS and got called up for a long haul. I'm thinking my best choice now is to find a reasonable air taxi and pay the rate. Things are not working very well in that category. Seems my whole schedule is not working so well. I almost think, I would be better off waiting for Winter, haul all my supplies to the cabin, dig the snow out and build my addition. If I didn't have bad luck, I wouldn't have any at all as they say.

Funny thing is, when I went to Lowes, Home Depot and a few other places, they were all out of screening, fans and even the air conditioners were just about out. I swear, if I could find one that my generator could handle, I would have bought one, LOL. I have been running the air conditioner in my car just to feel the cold air. Talk about desperate.

Anyway, I am going to spend some time re evaluating everything and approach from a different view. Everything will work out in the long run. Have a fun 4th of July.

We need to map out a trail between the 2 cabins in the winter, then maybe brush it out in the summer.. that way I could haul you up to my place and you'd have a trail to get over to your place and wouldn't have to depend solely on a plane available.. My lawn is burning up, guess I shouldn't be so cheap and run the water on it.. but the electric meter does a fast spin when that well is pumping. Garden is looking good though..
know what you mean about it being too hot to do much. I got an old home made adirondak lawn chair setting in some good shade, I putz around in the garden, work up a serious sweat, then go set in the shade and sip something cool and wet... don't see any sense in getting sun stroke...!

Hi John, actually, that is a good idea and I thought about it a while back but, forgot to mention it. We are about six miles apart. Let's get together and talk.

I can empathize about the heat, John. It was 103 yesterday and 107 today and I have barely stuck my head out the door past 10 a.m.! Just don't handle the heat so well. I'd be sitting in my car, too, if I didn't have a.c. I go out early in the a.m. and water garden plants. I need to use up my remaining rainwater so the mosquitoes don't have a place to breed.

Take care...blessings!

Ever think your worst enemy would be extreme heat in Alaska? I keep thinking it won't last forever! Perhaps you need to come down to the Kenai and do some fishing. It is much cooler down here. Bring a tent and stay on the beach for awhile with all the millions of other Alaskans who will be doing the same...

I tell you what John: you come down to the lower 48, specifically NC and take over my job and I'll head your way and do yours! :) I can't say too much about the mosquitoes but we have gnats that will drive you nuts here. And surprisingly it hasn't been that hot here this year and we are getting drenched by rain all the time. And as you said about luck, Murphy's Law in the dictionary has my picture beside of it. I will be up there next year if it kills me. Visiting of course unless I hit the lottery, which by my previous statement is very unlikely. Keep cool my friend!

It was 77 by 10 this morning...should have gone out at 6 instead...by the time we got home, I was sick..layed out on the couch not moving. I'm down to beets, carrots and taters left to plant and my son has one more 12 ft raised bed to turn... If this heat would give way or the skeeters.

Hi Cotton, those temps are crazy. I don't know what is going on. I hope it changes soon.

No Carol, I never saw these temps coming. Not sure which is worse, skeeters, heat or tourists. No offense to my friends on my blog.

Hey hiker, no thanks, I will stay right here. Besides, I'm not allowed to work, Union rules, lol. We could use some rain. Let me know when you get here.

Hi wash, know how you feel, I'm not getting anything done at all. It's driving me nuts. Something has to give soon. Don't get heatstroke..

Hi grammie, I haven't seen temps like this for a long time. Seen them in Fairbanks one time. The skeeters are the worse. I am re evaluating my plans and head as I write, lol

I'm telling you John, it's nice and cool here. You don't have to go to the river with the crowds (not too many here yet anyway). Lots of places to camp and enjoy the cool weather and breezy areas away from the heat...
