Slow Spring

Well, it would be nice if Spring would just march in and take over. It is really late this year and slowing down my projects I wanted to get done so, I can head out to my lake property and get to work. This will give you an idea what it looks like here.

MY YARD

Here I am helping Mother Nature out, 3 hrs. I chipped

When I was done, I sat down to a nice ice cold Corona

Maybe I should do more work to get rid of that Winter overhang,LOL  Dinner really completed the day. Grilled Halibut and sauteed peppers, onions and mushrooms.

I bought 2 new outdoor Solar Lights, they work really well. They come on at dusk and stay on all night, not bad for $7 a piece.

I took a couple of random shots

This morning, I was looking out my picture window when low and behold,  I saw something moving very quickly. Yep, an Ermine

Last night, I made homemade Chicken noodle vegetable soup and threw the skin and bones out for the Ravens. This little guy decided to confiscate them for himself. He is the first one I have spotted since I bought this property. I enjoy these little guys, they are fun to watch.

I hope I have entertained you and maybe bring a little something in your day and give you an an idea how things can be fun when not in the city. Take care

Thanks for updating John! Believe me, your posts are NEVER boring, even if you think they are. I "stop by" whenever I get a chance and it's always good to "hear" from you. I look forward to hearing about how your new plans for the remote spot pan out. Good luck and be safe bud! -Dave in PA

Hey John
Nice pictures. Those little Ermine are great fun to watch. We had one living in a wood pile over at our Chugiak place.
Snowing again down here today... Just when the snow was going away fast in the yard. Beginning to wonder if we're going to have a summer this year!
Take care
John

Evening John, always loved log cabins, cant wait to see your plans. My plans would call for a big window at the eating table so you could take in all Gods country while having morning cofee. And what would a log cabin be without a big porch to rock on when the weather is good to just enjoy Gods creations what more could one want.I hope you plans call for an updated 2 holer lol (with an ice pick for visitors too :) and gosh where would i be without duct tape and a hot glue gun..lol those are definately the best modern inventions as far as im concerned. The weather in alabama is tomorrow 75 with low of 43 ya cant beat that.Well John take care and will catch cha later.Have a Blessed Day and weekend...Bert from Alabama

Been home sick for the past week. Saw the huge flocks of geese, and smaller ones of both snow geese and sand hill cranes arriving tonight. It started snowing huge flakes tonight and is sticking. arrrr I wish winter would go away, I'm really tired of this.

Love the picture of the ermine..

They are all over the place down here. We have a few grain fields in the area they stop over in for a few days before they continue their journey north. There was hundreds of the Canadian geese flying over my son and I yesterday. I don't think I have seen so many before. They stop at the same fields on their way south in the fall too...it is just nice to see them in the spring time. You need to catch a ride down to the Palmer area. I'm sure you could take some beautiful photos...the biggest group of them is usually at the field across fom the Palmer airport...

Bet your arms are feeling the burn from the chopping, just getting in shape for notching those logs! The over hang will melt away I am sure. Happy for the new pics.

I'm sure I commented on this page and the newer post, but seems neither of my comments stuck :(. I like your ermine shots as well. I just love the wildlife here in Alaska. Seems we have something new to see every week... Right now we have sandhill cranes on the flats by the Kenai River bridge outside of Kenai. Maybe today we'll go in search of swans...

Hi Carol,I will check for your comments when I get to the library. I miss seeing all the different birds. Out at Lake Clark, I saw just about every bird that flew in Alaska. I really enjoyed watching that little guy.
