Hmmmmm

It's Monday and not to much went on this weekend. Sunday got up and had a big breakfast. Yep, the usual,
Powdered eggs, dehydrated hash browns, precooked sausage and Cinnamon Spice coffee (Dunkin Donuts).

I pretty much spent the time cleaning my stovepipe and stove. To hard to take pictures doing that. Mostly sat and read a book, that my friend John gave me, called trails. Later in the afternoon, I decided to make some Rabbit soup, my last rabbit.

As you can see, I kinda porked up this winter, need to work on that.

I'm getting real itchy these days to get out of town for a while. I talked to a friend of mine who flew over my Skwentna property and said the lake is still closed, no snow but, slushy.  I am thinking about heading out to Lake Clark for a week before going out to Skwentna. Besides, I want to get some fishing in out there. The Lake Trout get pretty big and taste good. I got this one the Spring of 2011.

This weekend, I was looking through all the photos for the years I spent out there and, it sure brought a lot memories, some bad but, mostly good. I also have been thinking about how long it took me to realize just where I am suppose to be.
I have noticed the number of people who view my blog has dwindled quite a bit, which is sad. I think it could be they got bored. So, I may cut down on my blogging until things get more upbeat.  Take care.

Why don't you tell us some tales about your past instead John?
Like where you got that rabbit!
I find your lifestyle inspiring as I trudge off to work every day...

Hi Evano, I thought my past posts would say a lot. But, I will give it some thought.

It isn't being bored, John... it is spring time. You know as well as the rest of us how short spring and summer are. The snow clears and people are out doing, digging, planting, etc.

I am still home sick... been almost a week now and I honestly cant say I feel any better.

Personally I'm looking at a green house to put up for a temp and portable place that I can grow things. I need to get off the stick and get things done... If I could get well and stay that way it would be nice.

That's a beauty, John.

Looks like I won't be up there till next spring or summer. Looking forward to some of that fine Alaskan fishing I keep hearing about.

Hi John, Nice to see you're still keeping busy. I like reading about your present time and experiences, as well as the things you've done in the past. It's all fascinating to those of us who don't live in the bush. It's been awhile since I've been online much, but I'm trying to get back into writing and commenting more again. Love your blog and enjoy all your photos too.

very nice looking trout. I'd bet there are some real monsters in that lake over there! I've never caught a Lake Trout. Been working on the garden. Already planted onion and garlic sets. Got the Green House half full of tomatoe plants. Waiting for the All clear on the river ice.

Not boring.... fascinating! It's planting season in the lower 48 which means less computer time. I read lots of posts all at one sitting instead of one post at a time. That would mean fewer "views" on the counter.

I'm curious, what's the postal delivery like in remote areas? How does it work where you are moving to?

Hey John. I only recently discovered your blog and enjoy reading about your adventures. Sorta a comparison from my wired world to yours! One day though...
Keep it up.

Not bored here, either!! Love reading about what goes on with you and Alaska. They are right about the garden and outside stuff. I'm not on as much as during the winter and hot summer. Keep posting, my friend.
Blessings!

Hi all, guess I was wrong, I understand about the Spring work and being outdoors now that it's warm and the sun is shining. Thanks Penny.

Hey R, just chuck it all and come on up.

Hi Terri, it's really nice to see you back. Glad you will be back to blogging again.

Hey John, the tomato plants you gave me are growing pretty good, I keep them inside in the sun unless it is warm outside. Can't wait to transplant them into bigger pots. That trout was 6 lbs. and considered small.

Welcome Anita, postal delivery in remote areas varies all over. Some villages have post offices, some remote people have their mail flown in once a month, others get theirs when they go to town. Out at Lake Clark, there is a village close by and I can travel there for mail.

Thanks hiker, I will try to keep you as interested as possible.

Hi Cotton, I always have confidence you will be reading, thanks.

I guess you are right about that R.

I missed this post somehow. I don't know how you make it through such long winters there.
I myself though would love to go fishing for trout. Nothing as good as a trout and there aren't any here.
Don't worry about the number of people who view your blog going down, they are going down on mine too. I thought maybe it was because I don't have very many how-to posts lately and I was bothered by it but then decided that my blog was not a "job" and I was not going to worry about the stats. Either they will look at it or they won't.

Hi Becky, I guess I took it a little more personal than I should.

GREAT photos. That zoom lens really works good on your camera. Glad the tomatoe plants are working for you. I lost the biggest and prettiest last Tue night when it got down to 25F. Now I been covering everything in the Green house every night. that's what I get for trying to Rush Growing season.

Keep blogging, John. I only get the chance to read blogs about once every other week now, and I always look forward to seeing what you're up to. It's true that now that the weather has warmed and the snow has melted, I'm too busy getting out and about. The number of people commenting on my blog has dwindled too. But I'll keep plugging along. :) I hope you will too.

Hi John, I keep the plants indoors right now. I put them out during the day and bring them in at night. The telephoto lens does wonders.

Bushrat John said...
