Weekend and future plans

I decided to come in today and do this post as I need Wednesday to prepare for a trip this weekend. First off, Breakfast, French Toast [made with powdered eggs], moose sausage and cinnamon spice coffee.

and it tasted real good.
This Friday a friend and I are attempting another trip up to Skwentna and will spend the weekend there. We may come back Sunday or possibly Monday. This morning it was 10 degrees at the town cabin. So, I am hoping it stays cold.
I  am doing some thinking on the town cabin and may keep it as I am thinking about selling the Skwentna property and going farther North up around the Brooks Range. I just keep getting the urge to be farther away from the road system. If this happens, I may have to break down and find me a partner, of the female gender of course. It's hard enough to look at this old face in the mirror.

A lot of hard years showing here. I suspect, I will do this journey alone. The Brooks Range is a beautiful area and very little human signs around. I will go this summer and scout out a place that has just about everything I need, this will be an adventure in itself. As far as the town cabin, I will keep it as a place to stay should I come to town and let certain Bush friends use it if they care to. As you can tell, things are really getting better for me. I was in a slump for awhile but, I am back to my old self.
Being at the cabin this weekend will be good therapy. [SP?] I hope the trip up is uneventful, I will take my 1910 Winchester 25/20 for small game. I want to also see if my phone works up there. I'm pretty sure it won't work in the Brooks, what a shame, LOL. What would really be nice is, I could find a private pilot who would enjoy the trip and share expenses to the Brooks.
Well, that just about does it, hope everyone has a great weekend.

Thanks Wash, I've seen no cottonwood in my area. It should be a good trip.

Do you make your own moose sausage..?? Grind it, season it, etc..??? Years ago, we used to rent a grinder to make our moose-burger... I'd never made sausage. One yr an old Childhood friend was up hunting, and when we got to the grinding part, he ran in to Carrs (in Eagle River) bought several lbs of their hot pork sausage, we mixed it up 50/50 and it was pretty good.. Still do it that way...

I pretty much do everything myself, except this year, I spent to much time on this town cabin and got nothing done.

That food makes me hungry! Brooks range sounds pretty - does that mean you're looking to be in the mountains? Post pics after your trip. Maybe you need a satellite phone? I'll miss you if you go out of complete contact...

Hi Carol, nice to hear from you. The Brooks is a thought at the moment. I do love the mountains. I will definately take photos. My friend has a satphone and Spot. Also, we are leaving travel plans. I would figure a way to keep blogging if I leave.

John, face looks mighty handsome with that great back drop. Once again love looking at the pics especially when your breakfast is held by a beautiful table cloth, geez a shower and a table cloth you know how to make a house a real home!

Hope you had a good trip out to Skwentna ... I was seriously considering grabbing up the teen Grandson and going myself.. However, the Petty Officer in Charge of Laundry, Morale, and Checkbook pointed out a few things I'm supposed to get done before we go "Outside" to Oregon next week... So here I set...!! Wayne said that Dan (Yentna Station) hauled 5 barrels of fuel out to Skwentna yesterday (thursday) - they think he took the GCI trail down to the Yentna.. Have a Merry Christmas John... I'll talk to you when we get back...
